The Path of Least Resistance
I thought it sounded a little crazy
But his theory could go the distance
When he claimed that water is lazy
It takes the path of least resistance.
And when it comes to an impasse
It will try to find a new course,
But given enough volume and mass
It can become a destructive force.

Dear W,
The mystery is solved. I am water! I will always take the path of least resistance, I’m no fighter. But when push comes to shove and there’s a shoe sale at Nordstrom you’d best believe I can be a destructive force. I love your thoughtful analogy to my shopping strategy. As always you are clever and insightful beyond measure. H🌷

We're all 60% water, so once we get that momentum going, what's to stop us.
Glad you liked it.

I completely lost my train of thought to this when I read Honoria's comment! LOL!

Same here. I'd feel some Buyers Remorse, but sometimes you just gotta have it. I am trying to become a minimalist (but the wife is the opposite), so it's a struggle.

I thought at first (for the second stanza) you were going to say something along the lines of gentle persistence overcoming resistance (war of attrition) but then switching image to the force of a torrent gave it a more resounding conclusion.

When I first heard the professor talk about it, it was a very off the cuff statement during her lecture, but it stuck with me.
Later on, when I watched documentaries on floods, broken dams, tsunamis and other natural disasters somehow that statement came back to me.
The proper amount helps life, too much of it, it takes it away.

Very true. It has to be the proper amount to provide life, otherwise it's dangerous.
Years ago, a friend of a co-worker made the news because she drank nearly 2 gallons of water in less than an hour (for a radio contest of all things) and died. Turns out, the body cannot handle too much water in that short period of time.

I think the metaphor could apply to many things (I didn't think of the country) but yup, destructive it can be.
