Under My Palm
Retreating
stillness envelops
the shadows,
your skin pink
in afterglow;
you are all
I was promised
Reassuring
(myself)
you’re real ~
not fantasy
but flesh and blood,
my deepest hope
personified;
beneath my fingertips
a heart surrendered ~
the higher the rise,
the harder I fall
Realizing
depth of connection
all too late
for any hope
of escaping unmarked;
this nondescript
standard-fare hotel room,
its intimate details
later paling ~
fading to whispers,
while the shrine I built
to the only moment
my life was ever perfect
increases in vibrancy
Risking
everything
under my palm,
my love, forever
etched in stone
while you slept
soundly
