Senescence
the memories begin to fade
like the old oak tree
where we used to play
now withered, decayed
and rotting away
nothing stays the same

nothing stays the same

You are right nothing stays the same, but in the end something good comes out of it. Keep on writing.

One must know sadness to know joy. You have known joy, now sadness asks its part too.

Dear NB,
Change. I hate it. But it happens despite me. Your poem reminded me of our backyard as kids there were a lot of tree. We used to build forts and play hide and seek. As the trees got too big eventually they had to be cut down for prevention. It was terribly sad to see them go. The memories are fond. Heartfelt sentiments in your poem. Lovely write. H🌷

Life has some pretty bittersweet moments and you’ve captured the essence of that emotion precisely. Bravo, NewB 💜

It's that part in all of us, as we grow old some things to fade away, it's melancholic indeed.
Excellent verse NB.

It's the law of impermanence that makes it all so beautiful...just beneath the tragedy. Poignant poem NB.

I have been here long enough to know that beautiful things don't always stay that way.
