Lunacy
She once lit up the quiet sky,
Ever shining in her brilliance;
I, enamored by her mystic beauty
And her incredible resilience.
With a supernovae smile—
A vibrant glow upon her face,
She was the brightest of all the stars,
Kissed softly by the lips of grace.
I watched her come and go,
Like the ebb and flow of the ocean tide;
As the growing undercurrent,
Eroded at her sands of time.
Piece by piece she drifted away,
To a place I could no longer reach;
Until she faded from that misty bay,
Someplace beyond this lonely beach.
Some nights I hear her echo, still,
Far across the ocean blue—
Perhaps she's still out there, somewhere,
Beyond the dark side of the moon.
Ever shining in her brilliance;
I, enamored by her mystic beauty
And her incredible resilience.
With a supernovae smile—
A vibrant glow upon her face,
She was the brightest of all the stars,
Kissed softly by the lips of grace.
I watched her come and go,
Like the ebb and flow of the ocean tide;
As the growing undercurrent,
Eroded at her sands of time.
Piece by piece she drifted away,
To a place I could no longer reach;
Until she faded from that misty bay,
Someplace beyond this lonely beach.
Some nights I hear her echo, still,
Far across the ocean blue—
Perhaps she's still out there, somewhere,
Beyond the dark side of the moon.
Author's Note
This one is really personal for me. It's dedicated to my grandmother and my dad's only sister, who both suffered from schizophrenia and were eventually institutionized until they passed... Though it might be relatable to those who have family members suffering from dementia/Alzheimer's as well. In some ways, it's also about my mother, who I've seemingly lost to drug abuse.

Felt. Surreal... Was just taking some closeup moon pics a short while ago, and taking in the sky, savouring my usual fav stars - and also dealing with a (currently difficult) schizophrenic loved one at the moment, so this has just moved me to tears. A lot, right?
Overwhelmed right now, but this piece is special to me. Thank you for penning it xo

Your stunningly gorgeous eloquence is just breathtaking. I'm standing with you in relatable kinship as I'm familiar with the toll dementia / Alzheimer's can take on loved ones.
It's brutal, unkind and vicious.
Strength in self and courage, are the positive vibes I share with you through the ether...
Your brave poem is a beacon and a lovely tribute/dedication.

Dear NB,
If only there was a magic tonic to assuage and rid this kind of loss and pain. I’m always at a loss to figure out why such suffering. On both sides. It’s awful for the sufferer and for the loved one helping/observing.
“ With a supernovae smile—
A vibrant glow upon her face,
She was the brightest of all the stars,
Kissed softly by the lips of grace. ”
This stanza is beyond gorgeous in description and I think the best homage anyone could give or receive. Beautiful write. H🌷

This is very touching and I’d beautifully written. Bring back so many memories. I reminds me of a girl I once knew. She was also had a supernovae smile. A vibrant glow upon her face. She was the brightest of all the stars,
Kissed softly by the lips of grace. To this day I sill hear the echos of her whispers in my dreams. ❤️
PS thanks for sharing

This is a pretty one, there's something about poignant true stories that give a poem an extra technicolor glow, as this one being a tribute to those you love and written with love..

Shine on you crazy diamond, you champagne supernova!
Such a moving piece, especially when you've taken the time to pause & reflect on those troubled souls in your life. Yes, they can cause so much stress but at the same time they belong to us & we try to help them where we can. Sadly we sometimes realise all the help in the world is still not enough but we move forward with the situation for as long as we can.

This is a nice piece.
For some reason, this line is my favorite:
"Like the ebb and flow of the ocean tide;"
That line pulled me, like the way you can immediately be drawn to looking at a pretty color, one that seems to beg you to come closer to it. Weird?
Edit-After thought:
Perhaps it's because I wrote something yesterday with a similar ring to this poem.
Maybe I'll post, but it is not finished.

Wow this is fantastic. I'm not very good at giving eloquent feedback, but your descriptions are beautiful.
I find as I get older it's easier to write about loss than than my own personal angst.
Tremendous.

Your poem is beautiful. Plainer and more honest words could not be said about it. I am humbled by it's grace; your words are a delicate shimmer of unerring, unveiled truth cleverly wrapped up in the warm blanket of your poetic voice. Although I might not have properly grasped the inspiration behind your poem if you had not stated it, I find the poem relatable due to similar issues with people near and dear to me. Thank you for sharing.
(I am also honored that such talent would have reached out to pass a compliment my way. You truly have a gift and I am glad you have found me so that I could find your poetry as well.)
