Free spirit
Wind bristling through my hair
My eyes closed, my lungs savouring the fresh air
Feet in the salty water,
I can almost feel the ocean whispering,'Come my daughter '
Here I am alone, beneath the dark sky
On the sandy beach contentedly I lie
Staring at the stars so beautiful and so high
No reason to weep, no reason to cry
I can almost feel my majestic wings
Ready to pop out to let me join the kings
The rulers of the night with their enchanting hoot
If only I could discover the treasure Night brings
Still I hear the ocean calling out to me
Promising to help me and to set me free
The dark waters are tempting,so clear and so cool
Bigger than the sea, bluer than a pool
I can almost feel my feet merging together
The scales popping out, my body sinking further
Into the deceitful ocean as my mermaid tail swings
Splashing from side to side, replacing my wings
Out here anything is possible
Out here my voice is audible
Out here I am free,
To be all I wish to be
My eyes closed, my lungs savouring the fresh air
