Small midwest town
Sunday evenin'
Roun' bout 7
Hot and balmy
Everyone a sweatin'
Window fans
A buzzin' stale air
Blowin' everywhere
Keepin' us cool
Old women
Pulling back hair
From their faces
Hands swaying
Back and forth
Using Jesus fans
Put there
By the deacons
Church services...
Songs of joy
Being raised to heaven
Prayin' to a god
No one can see
Gettin' saved and sanctified
Was a weekly thing
Couldn't behave
Myself no matter what
Liked church though
Got me out of house
Since about 10 or so
Can't exactly remember
Entire story
But here goes...
Sittin' in church
At age 13
Bout 1962 or 3
Boyfriend comes
Sits beside me
Asked if i want
To look at his car
We sat in back
No one would notice
Poor ol' Butch died
In Vietnam War
Broke my heart too
For you see
That was the night
I lost my virginity
He was a hoodlum
My kind of guy
Convinced me
To look and see
Got into back seat
Of his cool lookin' car
Talked for a bit
Kissed longer
Rubbing on me
Got me down
In the seat
Held my hands
As he pushed
Himself into me
Into my virgin self
Sad really
Was a wham
Bam thank ya mam
Kinda thing
Not exactly how
I wanted my
First time to be
But what
A wonderful story...
Church services
Are going on
People singin' and praisin'
Raising them
Towards the heavens
And, here I am
In a car right
A the front entrance
When I lost
My virginity
Sunday evenin'
