Autumn VI: Reincarnation
Autumn has completed her work—
outdoing herself
as she always does
Rain and winds have come
leaving a few straggling leaves
hanging on—
for what
we cannot know
Letting go
does not come easily to some;
they hold on—until they don't
What we learn upon release
is that everything—even death
contains its own divine purpose
~

this hums with the low but ever-present note of universal truth
leaves me calm, and e-nodding, satisfied.
thankyou!

beautiful Vati sweet serenity
in this beautiful energy flowing from your soul
to all of us here and back out to the universe...
the trees themselves nod in agreement...

Yes. A hard, healing truth. One day i might have to put my mind to remembering it... so there. On my reading list it belongs. 💔
Beautiful. I could smell the fallen oak tree leaves in the scene it conjured for me. Thinking of their death and gift to the soil.

breathlessly versed Ahavati dear wise One.. yes agrees as whelms...tears & but a liberating light(ness) feels remain divine & eternal ...when afterall the shattered fears & heaviness vanishes forever..
deeply spiritual, loved the Pic its conveyance & the Title ..& each worded verse n space this breathes...

And without Death, we couldn't come back and do things differently. No metaphor more eloquently illustrates Reincarnation than a tree's limbs and leaves.

You always have a way of truly putting a stopper in the reader. Ahavati 🌹your words are always full of truth from such an innocent perspective

A more beautiful metaphor for the ever changing reality of nature I have never read Vati...everything is truly happening all at once.

What a gorgeous picture to go with the poem, it looks like a new little village rising from the ruins, or tiny mushrooms on a leaf, really late autumn feel..

A very neat and eloquent reflection on death. This one has the dark yet intensely naturalistic and resonant feel of an old ghost story.

Re. Autumn VI: Reincarnation
From a purely picky perspective, maybe "rain .. wind" or "rains ... winds", unless there is a specific reason for singular "rain" and plural "winds".
The thing with letting go, is that we must learn to let go. A child learns to take hold of an object, and must then learn separately how to let go. Of course, sometimes letting go is immaterial - the holder and the thing held are simply snatched apart
Is there always an absolute meaning in everything that happens Perhaps, or maybe each person finds their own meaning (or not).

Thanks, SeaCat ( good to see you back ). sunsettown also mentioned that ( or at least I think he was referencing it ) earlier in the comments as well. I am honestly not sure why I haven't changed it. Perhaps I was thinking of various winds; or, just liked the way it sounded. I'm still contemplating why.
I believe letting go is the most difficult lesson anyone has to learn in life. It's like trusting your heart to be broken. But once it is, you never have to worry about it being broken again. You don't fear love or being in love; and, conversely, you don't fear letting go.
Tough lessons that sometimes take lifetimes to learn.

Letting go is indeed tough.
And then there's the "detachment" kind of letting go. That's perhaps even harder, because that which was let go, is still there, and the temptation to grasp it again is strong. But detachment must surely bring peace and freedom. Unless I've misunderstood detachment.
Can a heart be broken only once?

Re: Re. Autumn VI: Reincarnation
I believe 38 Special said it best, "Hold on loosely ( but don't let go )".
I honestly don't know if I equate a difference in letting go and detachment, only because I haven't considered a difference in the two; however, now that you've pointed it out, I may indeed, after some consideration.
That's a good question on the heart. I've revised my answer twice, so I need to think more about how to say it more succinctly. I'm missing a word I can't think of right now.
p.s. - I just lost at least four RL's from you pulling your poetry. I hope you're not considering leaving.

Re: Re. Autumn VI: Reincarnation
Poetry has become progressively leaden.
I am considering abandoning it, and leaving DUP.

I am really sorry to hear that, SeaCat. You are one of the best here, in my humble opinion. You're not pretentiously arrogant in your writing nor presence. On the contrary, you're a calm foundation.
In regards to your question, I would ask if a vase can be broken twice after it's been mended? Of course the answer is yes. But, the second time you get your heart broken, you will not succumb to old vices. Love happens only once because there's never the same love twice. All I can say is that your greatest love is yet to arrive.
I wouldn't eschew poetry, if I were you.

SeaCat, follow your heart. If writing poetry brings you joy, that's all that matters. And count me among the crowd of people that would miss your involvement here.
