Magnolia Fading
her beautiful creamy petals
cling to warming branches
color deepening to diluted coffee
fragrance still sweet lingers
hoping to capture the attention
of swarming bees
pollen falling into the pit
of her belly
stamens curl naked
drying against the will
of nature
beautiful in her demise
cling to warming branches
color deepening to diluted coffee
fragrance still sweet lingers
hoping to capture the attention
of swarming bees
pollen falling into the pit
of her belly
stamens curl naked
drying against the will
of nature
beautiful in her demise

Excellent 'tribute' to both the magnolia flower, Jemac; you capture so much in these few short words. And also a tribute to the lessons from flowers in general, that put this amazing annual effort into 'life' - and then flower for a brief time in their glory, before fading away.
Nature and flowers seem to be in the air at the moment; I'm working on a 'tour poem' of our (1/4 acre) garden, with pics and (my next challenge tomorrow) to record some of the bird-song for an audio-vid.

Thank you so much Josh for your thoughtful comments and the add to your RL ... greatly appreciated
Your garden tour sounds wonderful.. I look forward to reading the poem that comes from that if you decide to share. I'm sure it will be a beautiful tribute to the wonders of nature. :))

All living things have a soul, including those that exhale the air we humans need to breath.
