an open letter to the poets

 
dearest poets,

I come to you with love in my heart
I need you to know some things about me
I'm struggling...
falling into old habits
ones that will ruin my life

I push myself to perform
with my writing and other things
I want to be there for people
meaning all of you

I feel like I let you down
if I can't keep up with the site
by reading, commenting and sending my love
I feel like I fail all of you

I realize I have to get better
I have to let myself heal
that means I will have to pull away a little
it's the only way for me
the thought hurts my heart
I just wanted you to know I haven't forgotten you

if I come here and just stay quiet
it's because I'm taking time to get better
this place has become my home
and you my family

I'm not going to leave for good
or stay silent for long
I love you more than you know

I will read and comment where I can
if I don't get to you don't take it personally
it's not your writing it's me taking it easy
