Speed of Presence

Be like a tree and let the dead leaves drop. ~ Rumi
Exuberance reveals many colors;
it's an outward sharing of fertility
Spring shares a newness of youth
a fertile aliveness of birth;
Autumn returns that fertility
†of seasoned experience
††and warm intimacy to the earth;
its urgent poignancy resides
††in the recognition of a limited future
††Spring knows nothing about
Everybody loves Spring
†† until Autumn presents itself
allowing the natural coming and going
††of that whose time has come and gone
It slows down to the speed of Presence
changing once again the equation
††from willful giving to willing release
††without which there can be no Spring
