Image for the poem Barbecue

Barbecue

The clatter of a steel lid
The sizzle of a rusted grill
Beer spilling on cracked asphalt
The babble of neighbors swilling gin
Their voices amplified tenfold
The shriek of laughter on hot breeze

The hostess slips, her breasts fall free,
And chortles at the turn of heads
Throws more pork chops on the grill
Says to "fucking eat your fill"
The guests oblige with gaping maws
Go after her with forks and knives
Dig right into her left thigh
Pork chops forgotten, going dry.
