A Glass Well Measured
I view my world and those who've entered
and relish in their sweet and splendor
To have such fortune, be so blessed
I've earned no right to have their best
Whether from my loins or another
I do not want, they are my brother
And gazing forward into the deep
I let no worries begin to creep
Not journeys end but rather start
I'll keep you here within my heart
Where I've gone there'll be no bounds
I'll rest in peace where love surrounds
And to the one I've left behind
I'll wait for you until your time
We'll be together embrace the lull
Not half empty but rather full

Your poem is beautiful, Amorous_tryst! The alternate perspective gives it mystery and depth. No living person knows what death is from the inside. And yet, the persona is the one looking back at life and trying to comfort the bereaved:
"Where I've gone there'll be no bounds
I'll rest in peace where love surrounds
"And to the one I've left behind
I'll wait for you until your time"

Thank you, cabcool, your perspective on this is truly appreciated. It was indeed written while attempting to imagine the afterlife coupled with the present, and only after death will our fate be revealed.
The one belief I truly have is; regardless of which religion or belief one follows, if it teaches love and forgiveness of your fellow man, then it is a blessing to have, and it will always be welcomed in my life.
The only judgment I may make is on myself. God will pass all others.
