[ On Poetry ] Taking Down Names And Faces

      
So easy to spit out a few lines    
or rage against the machine    
in page long rants of floor    
to ceiling random comments    
Wish I could write lyrics    
that made no fuckin sense    
pointless as a window    
in miles of chain link fence    
but my brainwaves operate on frequencies    
outside the spectrum of self indulgence    
while you hide behind the pretense    
someone to be reckoned with?  
Here I am, kicking ass now    
asking questions later    
taking down names and faces    
dropping bodies in their places    
creating a body of work    
to occupy the empty spaces    
left behind during your wake    
people might care to attend    
if you had at least written    
one thing, something, anything    
memorable that could have been
used in your obituary
