did I have the right to express my feelings
once I was ignored, unread, unseen
like a smidge of gel
drying liquid on lotus leaves
a stupid reminder of a scab
on rusty leaves... reminder of falls
then I let go and words flowed
like a floodgate opened to allow
emotions out into the vast sea mingling
with the tears of man of the earth
and angels of the sky alike
I sang my songs
to storm hidden heavens
words
are like children
you let out into the world
you hope you have done
a good job of moulding them
so that they are well received

That is beautiful Grace. I love the syntax agreement between the words unseen and leaves. Beautiful striking metaphors. I think this write would appeal to any purveyor of the pen. Before I found a few forums where I could post my works, it was like I was bleeding into a vacuum. I hope you do well in the comp :)

Hi Daniel, thank you so much for reading me. I know exactly how you feel...bleeding into a vacuum...when nobody actually feel you or understand you, even as you reach out through your writes. I appreciate you coming by. If I win it will be a bonus...I just love writing.
This piece really tugged at me the moment I first began to read it. And by the time I finished I could hardly see the screen for the tears, so moved I'd become. There's just been so much hate & suspicion & loathsome accusations lately. You are my balm, and to others as well.
Dear Jade, thank you so much for reading me. I am glad you were soothed by it. There are tears between the lines actually...A long time ago I used to write poems, not good mind you, on note books or exercise books as we call them. I had hundreds but nobody understood them, read them or appreciated them. My then-significant other used to jeer or mock them, saying I should be in the kitchen making cookies and stuff like that instead of writing nonsense. Years later I found DU, and my more than 1000 poems/drivels are testimony to my 'floodgates'. My freedom of speech achieved. :D

Damn, Grace, you struck a cord with this piece. Love the call to rusted leaves, an old scab. Love the imagery thrown all around, it comes together and compliments itself. This reminded me so much I've why I came to this site, to the reading list it goes!
