Leap Of Faith

I approach you, hidden as I am,
clotted cream & honeyed nearby
with dark eyes rolling back in time,
these twin half moons in orbit still.

Then comes a singular moment
expected when it has arrived
as so many promises do,
that we hoped one day would come true.

Like a pair of grey doves cooing
in the nearby groves' early morn
'fore the first light of day's dawning
reveals that they're only pigeons.

But to dare to expect better
for anything more than we have
does injustice to us while my
dim flame still awkwardly flickers.

We're reminded, both, you & I
how precious & fleeting to know
the rare pulse of life is to own,
embodies the compass of suns.

Unconsciously starstruck in awe,
how even my own impending
as a manta ray longs to glide
over light years of galaxies.

I've shown you not to bow to it,
the limits of dismemberment,
to let you go and fall between
my blades of flint that renders bone.

Breathe the incandescence of my
promise, the incendiary
flash of lightning's parry & thrust,
the piercing of javelin tongue.

Through blinding sky's cutting northwest
comes once again through rending skins
carnality's infrequent swoon
from passion's season overdue.

A leap of faith as I slumber,
a trust of loss when you're awake,
remembering at that moment
you believe it all for my sake.
