Elder
like the Elder tree
you fed me berries
that kept me alive
hid me in your branches
when I was my most broken
you are my oldest and dearest friend
understood me when I could
barely form a coherent sentence
gave me shade
to grown in
a place for my blossoms to bloom
a place where the sun couldn't burn
my newly formed buds
I have a love for you
that makes you uncomfortable
you shy away from such confessions
so quick with the humor
also fast to debate with such passion
you're my friend
you held me up when I was weak
opposed my self destruction
always told me how things were straight up
no sissy chaser to soften the blow
for this and so many reasons I respect you
you've cut a path
in a territory that would strangle most
with your deep intelligence
my friend, my confidant, my Elder tree

Hullo
very humbling words, Brenda, and I thank you for them muchly
I remember it like it was yesterday, I'd joined a couple of days into kicking the fairy liquid, and felt like shit. a couple of days later I kicked sleepers and valium ..fuck me, that was a bit if a trial
it was made a whole lot easier when we talked. you're a legend. god bless your alcoholic liver
*hat tip*

It is said that a tree with strong roots laughs at storms. This was the tree's gift to you, that you, too, learn to laugh at the storms and survive.

A fine tribute to a wise friend. He could be a mentor, father figure, possibly a lover, but always there for you. Wonderful work Crim. I'm getting a little elderly myself.
