Venus
Beyond cold panes of glass
Ursa Minor ladles darkness
as if to scoop me into a parallel
dimension within the Universe
Come morning it's replaced
by Venus, a beacon atop
an Autumnal Bradford Pear
like some holiday ornament
It’s not the Christmas Star
but an Eastern orb of planet -
Love so often mistaken
for something it truly isn't
I don't watch it disappear
as a reticent sun emerges
I witness a slow absorption
I think ‘humans’ are the same,
fragments of average intelligence
entities on a gravitational leash
amid a diminishing Eco system -
Soul-threads of being who’ll never
dissolve in death, but merge with
a greater Source of our selves instead
~

I have seen the steady beacon of Venus in the sky each night. It is so beautiful. I love the big and little dipper too. Easy to trace their shapes in the sky. My eye is often drawn to Sagittarius, the solid arc of archer and bow.
Your poem is lovely bright lady, carrying the depth of your spirit upon in its lateral arms.

I love the idea of a gravitational leash -
such a down to earth thing...
and I'm currently collecting all the fragments
of average intelligence I can find,
so that in the future they might be considered
ancient wisdom... :)

Sage one this is glorious in it's beauty and message..
I pray once we cross over we are no longer tethered but have complete understanding and are freed from the gravitational leash and can roam the cosmos..

adore the imagery - Venus on a pear tree as xmas ornament and the things that aren't quite what they should be and yet they are perfectly part of a whole

This was so very beautiful, so thought provoking...
'Soul-threads of being who’ll never
dissolve in death, but merge with
a greater Source of ourselves instead'
A very enlightening read, Ahavati...

Suggest removing Line 4 from Stanza 4 because the final line already echoes the sentiment.
Someone please BUMP this bump worthy poem.

Re: Re. Venus
If you're sure the absorbtion is into the greater whole of itself vs a separate entity.
I've also wondered if 'ourselves' should be 'themselves' in the final stanza, being the POV is from an observatory vs inclusive one. I opted to leave it as is because neither seemed right or wrong ( for lack of a better term to explain what I'm trying to ), and added 'instead' because it seemed weird ending with a pronoun.
I opted to leave it as I knew in my heart some mad barber would come along one day and trim the crust off.

The mad barber you speak of would with Edward Scissorhands like dexterity snip "ourselves" in half.
"Soul-threads of being who’ll never
dissolve in death, but merge with
a greater Source of our selves instead"
To me, it then subtly implies that we are simultaneously individuals and extensions of a Source. We can retain individuality despite the absorption which comes from simply acknowledging and embracing we are a part of something greater.

Re: Re. Venus
Thank you. It does read better. I'm squealing over the RL.
I've been waiting for Edward... ❤
However, assumed he was waiting for the Holiday Season.
I need to go! Avon is calling...
