Have you ever asked yourself?
Where you were born,
Who were you born to,
What did they do to you,
How did they treat you when you spoke,

What did they tell you,
What did you learn while you were growing,

Have you ever answered
In knowing yourself?
What was left as your own.

Harder than words,
Loving myself has been
A process of elimination

First I had to let go
Of all their dyer charges on my soul,
And then, and more importantly,
I had to let go of my own.
