the looking glass
reality is getting fuzzy
I think i'm losing my fight
with the beast bi-polar
i'm scared
grasping at words
to steady the world
they all scream back
you're going crazy lady
no one knows how painful
being psychotic is
family and friends
turn deadly and demonic
voices talk to you
some friendly
others boss you around
it gets so heavy
just navigating the day
my grip slipping
feel afraid and alone
no one wants to mess with crazy
it's a contagious disease it seems
everyone acts like they're going to catch it
don't come near
you may infect me
I search for the voice of reason
phone off the hook
no one calls back
knowing madness is here

I think it's okay to be crazy every now and then. It gives us an opportunity to learn the delicate art of balance when the scales tip.
This is a good expression of the experience so that we can relate.
Thank you for sharing.

Human nature is to fear what is unknown. Expressing your frustration will hopefully bring awareness to your struggle and perhaps less prejudice towards you and others who suffer from their behavior in addition to the effects of bi-polar. My heart goes out to you... jj

a voice in the darkness;
you wonder why it screams so fiercely
it could shatter a heart. & it turns out to be yours,
the voice & the heart.
you give us something to reflect on , Crim...

Brenda! i was left speechless for a long while..reading this evoked a volatile mix of emotions.. I do not write in comments if do not mean it..so here it is... the use of word 'crazy' hurt me, don't care if you believe it or not, I personally hate this word, to me this word is the ultimate insult to a human, so seeing someone use it on someone I call friend is indeed hurtful. It is a very cheap term to slander a human being and to see it being used on a person of your intellect and insight is truly incisive. This is an extremely evocative write, with amazing delivery which leaves direct impact on heart and mind.

thank you KDAmB I feel and understand you hating the word crazy and it touches my heart that it bothers you that I would apply it to myself.. today was a bad day and I was only saying what one of the voices was saying to me.. as strange as it may seem I didn't know any way better to get that feeling and idea across.. I deeply appreciate your thoughts and sincere emotions on this write..

Who can even say what is crazy anymore. Are the crazy ones not those who dont doubt the world we currently live in? Aren't the crazy ones those who follow blindly without question. If you ask me, we're the sane ones. The ones that have the nerve to question this bullshit that we were forcibly born into. We were born without the decision and so surely it is our right to question.

Marilyn Monroe quoted" Imperfection is beauty. Madness is genius. I would rather be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."
I know of this subject all to well. When the people you assume love you, and would care for you, ask what's wrong. You tell them. Just because they don't see what goes on in your head, they act as if they are perfection, and you, the disease that will change them.
Fuck em... at least YOU had the courage to have gone to a therapist to be diagnosed. These ignorant douches, in my opinion . Are cowards. If they took the time to ask what is wrong or even if you took the responsibility to inform them. They will never be healthy in the brain game. I have a personal saying, " I may be mentally ill but, I am not mentally stupid." Honestly, it is okay to remove these people from your life. If they are not there to support you. To help you manage your illness. What the fuck are they in your life for? To make you feel belittled? Because, your chemistry or neurons, in the most important organ in our entire body doesn't function as intended .
If possible, try and keep only people in your life that understand what it is you go through. And if they can't understand. Ask them to kindly educate themselves on what it is they can do for you and for themselves.
And by all means, if you know a person that claims to be "normal ". Run..... love ya malady.
✨Always peace Trish

I am ever in awe at your unflinching self-exposure...not as we see it but as you perceive it...or perceive others seeing it. You bring beauty with your words to that which is understandable only by those who experience. It's a sharing of self that is beautiful and, though I wish nothing but goodness and joy for you, I am grateful for every glimpse of who the beautiful and exquisite lady that Brenda is. I have to agree with KDaMB. Crazy should never be applied to a human being. Situations are crazy. You are not a situation, you experience one. And you, my lady, are not crazy.

My darling ladyloves, if only it would
make you feel better if someone said
"hey get in line or join the club or
welcome to the party, it's nice to meet
you"
this is one strong, bold written piece,
it too powerfully felt , made my
stomach swivel a bit.. . that's how
much.. i am touched

This is very honest Brenda. It makes me think
of the days when I was strung-out, (although
I feel more and more this way some days
now in my present situation), so I couldn't
imagine it being a normal state of mind.
Thanks for writing-out how you think and feel
because it helps yourself tremendously and
others.
And like one comment above said, "What really
is Normal?" This could be a Higher State of Consciousness.
I know I've experienced altered-states that most would
call crazy.
But, "Fuck Most."
