Ring of Fire
There are mere seconds between brushed steps
and fractured elements in the forest; we pause,
reflect its cyclic life from our meager perspective;
catalog bewildering discoveries for future forages.
Cobras of condensation snake upward, curl from
the baskets of our solar plexus, bellows fueled
by shallow breaths expelling into the twilight
from this simple human experience into nature.
We honor the gentle Spirit of Solitude, its thick
mantle of silence sealing our lips from speech;
we stop, listen to colonies of moisture breaking
camp to trickle from thawing burrows of bark.
Suddenly, we’re camouflaged animals, motionless
from a predator who might detect any movement.
Through the emerging mist of distanced trees
a pinprick ruptures, forms a solar Ring of Fire.
Emotions are ignited, our resolve falls from orbit;
A thousand miles away, the Pacific basin shifts --
quakes beneath the souls of our stilled presence.
Light particles burst, fall as confetti in a parade.

Nature kindles its own fire inside us,
we set the flame on dry twigs to make poetry.
it's an exciting excursion...

What a beautiful photo
And I have to say this piece was stunning.
You've a wonderful way of taking the reader with you,
There's nothing quite like that connection to nature.....

Such an interesting reflection; I'm always amazed at how you breathe life into life with elements that surround us day~to~day. . .Such a spiritual stroll it almost makes me want to take that stroll myself but within my own. . .Excellent, my Ahavati. . .~xo, Devlin.

This is a beautiful write. I love the 3rd stanza especially. Silence is sacrosanct. I agree with those above about the interconnectedness that this work so profoundly expresses. I am reminded of chaos theory, the butterfly effect. One action, thought, emotion, setting incalculable events into motion. Another striking ponder. Namaste.

This reminds me of within a split second. Nature can become alive . Solitude of silence, within a distance creak of movement. That only natures ears can hear. Simplicity of spirit. Moving the earth beneath us.

Enlightening words
The cycle of life, Nature
Affected my soul
Thanks, Ahavati :-).
Amazing, your pic looks exactly like the one I took from a nearby glade.
