and seen the beauty in it

Life used to be  beautiful to me
before I realized how
the world really is
before I ever knew
how people could be so cruel
the good old days
I have seen them
I have been there
I remember them or what
 I thought they were
I know now they were only
an illusion and I wonder now
how it all seemed so innocent
and I realized it was before
I had ever started
playing the game of life
when it seemed like
my whole world changed overnight
now there has been
so many different roads
I learned so many things
I wish I had known before
I started this trip through life
and found out the hard way
about so many things
now time has came and went
 it all seems like a dream now
how I once looked at everything
and seen the beauty in it
