Glass of Wine
the sun is setting
gives the people on the sidewalk
an ethereal glow
the well-formed hand
of a cloud
splits away from the rest
points toward
the sinking sun
and toward its own moldering
‘twill readily soon be gone
as the sunlight vibrates its energy
across the roof of The Hovel
inch by inch it gives up the last
light of the day
showing us all we need to know
she offers the glass of wine
she's holding
to whomever is reading this poem
for inside the glass
is power enough
to give
credence to the sinking sun
