Hung Out To Dry

Back roads and side streets
I'm hard, but I look sweet
could you buy me a smile
and talk for awhile
I'm feeling hung out to dry

and the crumpled up dollars
I found in my pocket
can barely buy me a thing
so I keep on walking
with nowhere to go
narrating to myself
like it's a tv show
so I feel less lonely
my go to trick you could say
let a little crazy in
and keep most of it away

Back roads and side streets
I'm hard, but I look sweet
could you buy me a smile
and talk for awhile
I'm feeling hung out to dry

Well the drinks that I've had
just enough to make me sad
a little blue in the heart
and red in the face
I've got nothing to show
for one hell of a chase
and his next sentence
I know where  it ends
he's repeating himself
I don't want to hear it again

Back roads and side streets
I'm hard, but I look sweet
could you buy me a smile
and talk for awhile
I'm feeling hung out to dry

Am I less shiny?
Did I loose appeal?
Am I less attractive
when I'm right here and real?
If you don't want me
when I'm not putting on
then you really don't want me
and I'm already gone

Back roads and side streets
I'm hard, but I look sweet
could you buy me a smile
and talk for awhile
I'm feeling hung out to dry.
