Facades

Amidst this bustling crowd of pedestrians
I stand still for a while, not moving with the flow
Observing and watching the face of a fellow passerby
No hint of emotion can be observed on his features
And yet, I cannot help but wonder
What goes on in his soul, locked away
From the criticism of the world outside, cold and harsh.

Is his soul glowing with happiness, rare to a find?
Or is a storm of conflict brewing in the name of catastrophe?
Perhaps he's drowning in the tempting river of sorrows
Or his soul's empty, devoid of human emotion

And here I stand in the midst of facades
Covering up scandalous secrets of embarrassment and sin
I cannot help but think if we really bother
Bother to uncover the facades and share the bliss and guilt
Of the lives of people we're intertwined in.[/font]
