Girls Who Become Women

What is it
about the human body
that recreates
the needed source
for us to know ourselves
as ones
who have a loss
of words
to blame
when we transcend
the flame?

Am I to stand
and bare
my footing
to the solid chair?

Will this be
the moment
when her frame
so built
to withstand the weight
of how we laughed
when we were kids
but now
she has surpassed
my wildest dreams
and this
is how she tortures me?
