A Sinner's Plea
Please Lord listen to a sinner's plea
No excuse for things done deliberately
Eventually
It came back and hit me right where it hurt
Full of self-renunciation like denying it works
To belligerence to satan who's supplying the dirt
What a vital elevation
I was crying at first symbolically
I know a pigeon symbolizes peace
But I see optimism as just a way to hide the grief
And to me
Altruism seemed to come with a fee
I mean involuntary work specifically
Have mercy on me for insubordination Lord
I know I have sinned and death will be the payment for it
Even though I can't ignore it
I won't wallow in shame
I ask if you could send a guide when I call on your name
No excuse for things done deliberately
Eventually
It came back and hit me right where it hurt
Full of self-renunciation like denying it works
To belligerence to satan who's supplying the dirt
What a vital elevation
I was crying at first symbolically
I know a pigeon symbolizes peace
But I see optimism as just a way to hide the grief
And to me
Altruism seemed to come with a fee
I mean involuntary work specifically
Have mercy on me for insubordination Lord
I know I have sinned and death will be the payment for it
Even though I can't ignore it
I won't wallow in shame
I ask if you could send a guide when I call on your name
