A video "how to" guide on Spoken Word Workshop
Anonymous
Hello
I am slowly putting together a video 'how to' guide on recording questions I get asked. This is something I have been meaning to compile for a while as I would really like to grow this side of the site, and there are some people who are just frightened to death of recording.... I'm here to show you how!
This guide and any further spoken word questions can also be found in the LoudSpeaker Poetry group:
https://deepundergroundpoetry.com/groups/loud-speaker-poetry/discussion/
I will be adding video guides here as they appear. If you have a recording question guide that you would like to see, please let me know and I can try and record it for you (if I know the answer!)
* The basics of using Audacity to record your poems: https://youtu.be/YuaXwXsbj9A
* How to add music to your vocal track in Audacity: https://youtu.be/3gjCtrsabf4

Hey Missy, great idea.
I just watched your tutorials, as you know, I have always used audacity, my favourite recording/editing software. Considering how long I have been using it, I've never experimented with those tools in the square boxes lol. That time shift tool will come in handy.
I noticed when you did the noise reduction, you repeated the same effect to clear more of the noise. You may already know, but just in case, if you are going to repeat the last effect, you can just click on "repeat last effect" it is above "amplify" You can also drag and drop music into your audio.
Thank you for these, so many may be encouraged to have a go.

Hey 👋
Thanks for that. I’m aware of the button, but better to repeat while I’m explaining it so people get used to where it is
Thanks for your support on this. Spoken Word has always been a passion of mine, so if I can encourage others to start experimenting with their audio creations, then that would be just grand 😊
I’m going to add more tutorials.... I have a lot of time on lockdown right now

Nice one!
I’m planning on doing some performance and delivery workshop articles further down the line, so perhaps you could hit me up with some useful stage tips further down the line, Mr. theatre man 👌🏻
I’d be interested too. I’m now performing live fairly regularly (in a pre-lockdown world) but it’s always a good thing to hear tips and advice from others. I guess we never stop learning

This is great and very kind of you to provide. I can think of a few people who've come to me for guidance that could benefit from the various subjects broached here.
