Poetry Contest Description
Love and other thugs.
This month's broad theme is: love.
RULES
- 50 word limit
- Your image must include the full text of your poem
- Don't use photos or artwork which are copyrighted by someone else.
- Ensure the text of the poem is large enough, clear and readable even on small devices like mobile phones.
- You agree by entering to let us post your image on our various social media accounts (Instagram etc.). You will be credited by username in the caption.
- Max two entries per person.
HOW TO ENTER
- Create an image with your poem text. This can be plain, or you can include image(s) or a background. Be creative.
- If it's a new poem, then post it on DU using "submit poem". Attach the image to your poem, selecting the "visual poem" option.
- Use the "Enter Competition" button on this thread, and select your visual poem.

For those who want to get involved, but don't know where to start, there's a number of websites which can help you make images without any design software skills. I'm not affiliated with any of these and they should all be free. If not please let me know and also tell me if you know any others which are good:

Just asking - what standard are the images to be?
Are they meant to be professionally done?
Are they meant to be done at our own hand?
Are they meant to be computerised drawings? Freehand?
How about freehand plus filtering and photoshop?

Any of the above. The main thing is that the image compliments the poem in some way, without making the poem hard to read (as the target for these monthly competitions is social media). It's great if the image is done by the author, but using images freely available (as long as no copyright infringed) is also acceptable. It's more about the end result, the poem and the creativity.
