Crimson Grey

snickerdoodle cheesecake
softly scents the air
gentle breezes
stir branches
beyond
my window pane

warm and welcome
is my kitchen
yet...
brilliant
is the sky!

how can I remain
secluded
with such splendor
passing by?
indigo shadows
suspended
yet gliding
across a crimson grey

colors that dance
on the horizon
will not waltz
for long
cheesecake can cool
unattended
I've got a date
with the sky!

“Outside, daylight was bleeding slowly toward dusk.”
― Stephen King

- MY LADY DUSK -

I see her across the horizon
My arms open come hither
Her statuesque as an icon
Into the cold embrace of dusk

The fingers of dread descend on the sun
Howling of wolf sons at the come of night
Await dreaded light with the haunting dead

My Lady Dusk
Let me taste your nocturnal kiss
Bless me by thy moon
Touch me, tenderly, with your shadowed lips

The bats and I we colonize
As your children of the night
Where monsters come to sodomize
In the still heart of dusk

Who will speak of ghosts driven from the cross?
Can I pay the cost if not to spurn her?
So now kill the burn of those holy hosts

My Lady Dusk
Let me taste your nocturnal kiss
Bless me by thy moon
Touch me, tenderly, with your shadowed lips

I cannot live
Without your touch
I am bewitched
By my Lady Dusk

My Lady Dusk
Let me taste your nocturnal kiss
Bless me by thy moon
Touch me, tenderly, with your shadowed lips

The forest at dusk

I stand in the forest as the sun goes down
heart beating fast fears grow
A crow doesn't want me there
it squawks to let me know
looking at the trunk of a tree I see
a beast has left its scars in the bark
I sense the presence of something
lurking in the dark
Is it behind a tree?
I can't turn around
it might be behind me
I must keep walking
I must get out of the forest before darkness takes the land
The lightly trodden paths leads me to the edge
I leave my fear of the forest inside

2.“Outside, daylight was bleeding slowly toward dusk.”
― Stephen King

Dawn

Softened around the edges.
Lose yourself in the pink,
Purple and orange skies. Bridges

Are crossed on the brink
Of a new day. The city lights
Are dimming and shrink

Down while the young nights
Emerge and blossom into
Something like beautiful sights.

To be seen. I look into you,
My hope for erasing mistakes
And the forever blue

Skies. The sunlight that shakes
Me awake, fade and submerge
Into darkness. My foot on the brakes

Loosens and I try to purge
Everything bad. It always pokes
And prods. It will urge

Me to go forward. All the strokes
Of the paintbrush will keep
Me awake. Eventually it will coax

Me into a deep slumber and sleep
Where I dream of soft clouds.
There I will count every sheep.

7."Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Looking beyond the beginning

The end of day dying in glory
hours stale air breathed today
gone now ticked tocked away
to mere memories

Forward never returning
no U-turn to erase errors
pushing against propelling time
will not offer a rewind

Tomorrow is a new day
perchance to be lived better
a dream fulfilled
for a new beginning

I would have to say Stephen King, 'Outside, daylight was bleeding slowly toward dusk' that is from The running man the only Stephen King novel I have read.

7. "Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Time to Pause and Reflect

Every day must end,
And in the transition,
When the sun is in the horizon,
It gives time to breathe and contemplate,
As it gives the last rays of light,
It serves as reminder,
It will be back again tomorrow.
It appears to be an artist,
Painting the sky with various colors and hues,
Like a muse to all admirers of the heavens,
That no matter how deep your joys or sorrows,
A new day will appear.

Dusk is the time to pause and reflect,
Time to gather and collect your thoughts,
That break we take
Before the coming slumber,
To look back and ponder,
And bask in the glorious scene
Of our star offering its last beams
On our beautiful earth.

It reminds us of a promise,
No matter how hard our days are,
Or what obstacles we face,
Tomorrow always comes,
Without any prejudice,
It’s up to our own choices
And the paths we take,
That tomorrow will be better.

But in the meantime,
I’ll breathe in the scene,
The array of colors in the sky.
