Dusk, prologue to Night

XL
if one's wishes were granted on blown lashes
& a kiss of love
was once felt
to be true...
those
were the very reasons
there was
"me and you"...

I
left with a longing
for our love & caress
i had to remind myself
to breathe
eyes which melted me
when we gifted all of self
could always be seen
right in front of me

alone & lost was my soul
my thoughts even got lost in a poem
& when the night draped, day drawn to a close
this is where
i
would
be
found

XIV
you chose to become
inaccessible
i looked to your heart
to bring upon change
i held on tightly
to what only
remained the same
your photo still there
in a picture frame

XXI
every syllable always
captivating
your voice was becoming
a memory
recalling all the tones
written, spoke
& moaned
accepting this
as your
want
&
truth
now

lost and then blessed was my soul
The Mourning Moon

brought peace with you
not there to hold
& when the new day
was slowly drawn open
this is where
i
would
be
found

XXVII
all that once was
had been tucked away
time was seen etched
on every single piece
buckled behind
two straps of brown leather
safe with my tears
left kissing
the burned cover

alone but not lost was my soul
my thoughts no longer lost in a poem
& when the night draped, day drawn to a close
i was able to rest,
now peaceful
and sound

XXXV
alone but now cleansed was my soul
i gave my all
to define
both our unseen wrongs
& when each new day
gets slowly drawn open
this is where
all i am
will still
be
found

... always beautiful ...

Shadows

As daylight slowly
bleeds
into the dusk
the shadows wait
for the darkness
to become
one

CHASING SUNSHINE

We keep searching for that little something
Something to make our life's reality to change
Change that would give us a sense of fulfillment
Fulfillment to shower our heart's delectation
Delectation that never seems to be enough
Enough to halt our greedy wants
Wants of wealth and everlasting youth
Youth that comes with valor and enthused
Enthused for what, but to do it over again?
Again and again we travel with time
Time that keeps rejuvinating as we keep aging
Aging it seems wont guarantee wisdom
Wisdom to realize not to chase happiness
Happiness never left us but our eyes sees far and wide
Wide as the horizon might be
Be that as the sun sets to flee
Flee with your spirit high above to see
See that the sun never really sets but just visiting someone else's sunshine
Sunshine which inturn be ours when its anothers' dusk.

SILENT FIELD

‘Still there are crumbling leaves
Back to fuel our reveries
Cold mornings I’d spite the wind
Whispers of what could have been’

Follow woe this night, from foyer strode
Carried the day
O’er shoulders numbed by neglect
Follow haste this night, the mouldered road
Wandered away
The smoke wanes your silhouette

Tears fallen slower than the sun
Evenfall you couldn’t outrun

Follow death this night, the harvest ends
Kept the decay
‘Neath those orbs that signified
Follow fear this night, and shear the tress
Rain would not stay
From quotidian, ne’er could hide

Tears fallen slower than the sun
Evenfall you couldn’t outrun

Follow me this night, you could atone
Lost memories
You are shaped by what you loathe
Follow hope this night, you’re not alone
Sorrow is freed
From the mire whence seeds had grown

Tears fallen slower than the sun
Evenfall you couldn’t outrun
Of these solutions there is one
Vessels are closed, healing’s begun

‘Still and tranquil ‘neath the sun
Suffer ‘til the deed is done
As darkness falls, I ever stay
As I’m the one who couldn’t wait’

Dusk She Comes

The low-slung setting gold of day
Gives in to rising mist that brings
The ev'ning's gentle mistress Dusk

Who's burnish'd sheen of silken skin
Surrounds expressive eyes of light
Reflections of last rays of sun.

Beyond, her gems of stars approach
To drift upon her shoulders bare
With constellations in her crown.

And as the night Nocturnal wakes
To host the life within her keep,
Her sister finds another day.

1.“...dusk is the time when men whisper of matters about which they remain silent in the full light of the sun.”
― Simon Raven

Dusk

On the edge of dusk's domain
in the shadow of creeping night
I paused to consider where I was
and why you held me in your arms.
I saw the path at my feet
the dusk had not robbed my sight
yet the gloom has now removed
the side trails to consequence.

I cannot forget that evening nears
nor pretend to dance in morning light
when gloom is the phantom’s home
here I live with ghosts displayed
the mirages were all too clear
no longer solid though I could see
their forms cast upon the screen
more real than past memories.

The sun still shines beyond the trees
seen through limbs as sparkling gems
on my face these gently lay
promising heat where none is had.
Why are my eyes struggling
is it tears or dark of night?
Hold me close for this short time
as vision fades in dusk’s twilight.

La Playa de la Reina de Los Ángeles
(a sonnet)

An old man stands again at angel's shore,
Ten thousand days and miles in between.
An anxious sea drowns sun, just as before,
And she returns, beguiling as first seen.

Her pure expression burns into his soul,
Confused with decades worth of discontent.
A grace filled vision from this haunting toll,
And finally shares her name, Exuberant.

His Dryad dances down the search-lit night,
Forever wearing that bewitching gaze.
At end of day, he's come to set things right,
And with her loosed, an ancient debt repays.

Yet freed, he prays this angel not depart,
For still he fears that with her goes his heart.

"Outside, daylight was bleeding slowly toward dusk."
                          -Stephen King

Eater of Light

(Entered in a DUP contest)

The dragon stirs from its slumber
Ebony scaled ominous body
Rippling with evil comes to life
Opening its Crimson eyes
It snarls at the remainder of the day
Slowly it slithers from its perch
Spreading its wings it
Leaps into the air
It's sharp ebony claws pierce the sky
As it stealthily climbs into the heavens
Breathing its fire it stalks its   Unsuspecting  prey
Opening its maw
Rows of razor sharp teeth
Spring forward as
It begins to devour the life giver
The sun
Blood oozes everywhere
The dragon bathes in it
As the Suns rays reflect
The Crimson clouds across the sky
And the day
Slowly dies
