Poetry Contest

Write about the above: what it means to you.
What is your threshold of Eden: your own exquisite experience that makes you think of Eden/Paradise. It could be falling in love, being in love or it could be knowing intense hatred, touching death himself, near death experience. It is your interpretation of what the threshold of Eden means.

1: Not more than 200 words
2: Poem must be titled

Inviting all DUP Friends and Family to participate.

- My Eden -

Across a sea of grassy meadows, dotted with flowers…
Where the cloudless sky is a perfect shade of deep azure,
I walk in the company of angels and other divine powers.
So many roses, of so many shades; all vibrant and pure…
They will never die, they will never fade; they are eternal.
I see trees that will never be cut down, and they are tall!
Butterflies and dragonflies bask in gardens around a well.
My well, my gardens in which I hear the sparrows call…
And I weep, for I am happy and yet I feel lonely just then.
The brightest angel at my side, my spiritual sister of old…
She sees my tears and introduces me to a lovely maiden.
The maiden’s eyes gaze deep into mine, loving and bold!

The maid is like me: male and female in perfect harmony,
My soul’s true mate, androgynous and compassionate…
She accepts me for who and what I am, with true dignity.
And her hand in mine feels so familiar, and so intimate…
Yet I have no need of memories, for here time will cease.
And in the arms of my beloved, I will know only peace!

My Eden, My Paradise, Is some where I am loved
This is a place where I do not worry about hate
Where I know there is someone to love me, for me
This little paradise in my mind If only it weren't so far out of reach
Maybe I could reach out my hand one day
And grab ahold of this uncertainty
Maybe there is someone waiting for me at this little unknown dream
Maybe I can hope, that one day this will all be real
But maybe just maybe, this longing I have is taking over me
I can't concentrate, my Mind always dazed
This dream will not go away, maybe because I know it's only a dream
This is the threshold of Eden, I've been caught

A Most Authentic Garden

I've often heard others describe their version of Eden
Full of beauty and wonder, where everything is idyllic and breathtaking

But for me, I see within in my mind's eye a much different place
One free of the narcissistic obsessions with pretty, attractive

In my special garden, things are as they actually are
What radiates outward is the inner truth, no pretense

Unlike here where perhaps Moses misplaced a commandment (eleven is an uneven, most odd number)
"Be whom the Lord made you to be"

Getting back to my heavenly paradise, there are many plants and flowers
A spectrum of smells and scents bring peace and contentment

Strolling among the flora are the souls that we've all come to miss
Loved ones departed, cherished pets who've already crossed the rainbow to this place

The most wondrous sight is of course God herself, the one who's remained so silent and distant all of my life
For here she will approach me, refuse to judge me, and enfold me in her loving, accepting arms

And so, Dear Reader, this is my garden most authentic, no pearly gates
Just a splendid truth most genuine, an eternal reward for keeping the faith and being authentic

Eden Garden

Death was her fall from life forever
So that her bodily matter degrade
And evaporate into the system of Eden
The threshold of eternity and freedom;
A foreboding gate between body and soul
Has been shattered from entwinement
To see the diamond white light of blindness
An epoch so long and fast to cherish
En-route to the world of sublime happiness.
Here will be the end of the hearth
The beginning of the celestial earth
When there will be shapeless gods
Emanating from the center of the humans;
The body will die, the soul will rise.

EDEN

A world without pain

Mental or physical

A body healthy and attractive

Young and lean

People kind and gentle

Climate moderate

Sturdy house tucked away

Watch the water

From where I stay

No illness no cares

No banks, no bills

Eat off the land of plenty

A peaceful land of milk and honey.

I like this comp idea..Thank you Grace

Just beyond here by Mikimoondancer

My approach was confusing
seeing nothing familiar
Into the realm of alternates
Peculiar!
A ship to the left
and the past to the right
Morning existing
alongside the night
My guide came along
his soul I had known
My heart traveled freely
through dimensions of old
Into the moments where
lessons were learned
Back to the future
Reviewing the end
The crossings continued
til alas it made sense
Having the answers
I came back again

*sigh* this place again, this place with its restrictions  fallacies and fictions and freelance connotations flying back and forth.

Groundhog day

that voice, an extension
of the acrid tension apparent in your walk
yes,it's good to talk and throw things out there
or even shout about every little thing
that holds us here suspended like flies in a web
just waiting on the lethal injection
of a hungry spider

or an event,
the real decider that throws a blanket
around the head of the corpse of us

these days it's the thoughts that count
depending on the amount of apathy
they can be few or plentiful

Married myself
to the charged particles
of an evironment
encompassing
the threshold of my separation
(my skin)

as
the ecstasy
of accepting
myselftoearthairfirefruitandfur
toppled the self conscious guilt imposed gate
that banished our will
to be whole
