Teddies and Freddies

A Sonnet of Love to the Unexpected

"Blessèd is she who is expecting, for disappointment periodically buildeth character."
-- one bear of a bare fact

*

I woke in spring to unexpected love
on eyeing nigh my head a babe in bed,
a precious gift of life from God above,
which shrieked until its face turned fiendish red --
and stank to Heaven yet from pea-green pee,
as well as smelled like Hell from goo-like poo,
the mattress wee a wide, excreted sea
of breast milk plus a burp or two of spew --
still nonetheless, I chose to keep the gift,
despite its having hardly any hair,
my wishing not to give the gift short shrift
in being one true, loving teddy bear --
besides, the gift appeared to be worthwhile
till broke it into one vile pedophile . . .

The plastic bag

Four floors up my morning routine pauses,
I keep watch in that quiet moment,
leaning on the window-sill, fogging the glass,
I slip away and wait, watch the street
even if he makes me late.

“He’s here” I say out loud,
loud enough to clang the jailer's key
but there’s only me inside.
Outside the day blows all things east
everyone has to walk at an angle.

He marches in polished shoes,
pressed trousers needle
through a forced open raincoat,
the button straining as much as his face,
he never sees me,
whatever the weather.

I would normally watch all his steps
but today the wind has filled a plastic bag,
it moves like a Chinese dragon
towards my window,
breathing fire into my face.
Then it’s gone and I chase its tail
back towards the pavement.

He has been watching the same
spiraled dance.
His gaze puts a hand inside me,
pressing my boiled up blood,
it pushes me from the window
then pulls me back,
forced to look again,

He's still there
smiling up at me,

I tremble as I wave.

An Eden for Ivy

- An Eden for Ivy -

Oh heart of mine, what caused thy beating?
Like drums across the fields and the valleys.
As thunder it is, across a sky full of storms!
For such is the passion I feel, like a greeting,
Betwixt lovers who share kindred destinies!
Even on a chill day, such fire hotly warms…
The depths of my soul, raising me to heights,
Beyond the mountains of heavenly paradise!
Above: all Elysian splendor and starry lights.
And I know well the flower whose device…
Whose art so inspired in me: such devotion.
When didst I realize it was more profound?
I had only to search the depths of emotion,
Within my thundering heart, full of sound…
Filled with music that didst not play before.
It was this which wove its’ art upon me so!
Such magical art of love: and naught more.
Enough love to purify me, of all past woes!
Cease thy tears, look to our bright future…
No need for sorrow, for one so very pure.

Lonesome as an: ivy, I see thee fair flower…
And thy plight calls to my heart like flame,
Drawing me to thee in ways so unforeseen.
It is beyond beauty, thy enchanted power,
And since I felt it, I have not felt the same.
I see only thy spirit, like starlight’s gleam…
Calling to me from the vastness, beautiful!
Lovely beyond the light of the moon itself,
Making my once-tormented heart so still!
Except for the thunder’s rhythmic wealth,
The bounty of which was bestowed thus:
By thee to me, in thoughts and in feelings!
Let thy heart be given, to contented trust,
Fairer, than the galaxies in their gleaming!
Beloved mine, and I thy own as kindred,
Our pact beyond the very world entirely:
Beyond, sunsets purple or sunrises red…
We will walk together, as one, in dignity.
Cease thy tears; let me wipe them away,
Love, is our salvation, our new risen day.

Let the past fade until it is beyond recall,
For mine eyes behold a future so grand!
Past the fire that burns hearts and souls:
A garden like a paradise before any fall,
Awaits us, in our created promised land.
Let love be the law that thus consoles…
Thy troubled heart, oh ivy of my longing!
The gentle rain that falls upon the garden,
Will bring with it a feeling of belonging…
And thou, oh most blessed of all women:
Shall never need weep or sorrow, again.
Behold a golden path waits, not walked!
We shall walk it together, no more pain,
Only joy everlasting, as when we talked.
I am love, I am light; I am true serenity…
As thou art to me and so do I serenade,
So that thou may feel brighter, blissfully!
Believe in our garden, and be not afraid.
A new Eden is not built of a day’s craft,
But takes time, to be savored at the last.

Angel of Black Feathers

- Angel of Black Feathers -
A Tribute to My Most Beloved Muse…

The winds of autumn hath been fierce of late,
Echoing across New England’s countryside…
As, for calmer days, one is of a mind to wait.
So here I sit, pen in hand, where I doth abide,
Trying to find my muse and write my verses…
And an angel comes into my mind unexpected.
Such art, no bard or poet in truth rehearses…
It is spontaneous, and in inspiration perfected!
How to describe my angel, who inspires me?
She is not blonde, and fair of skin or of hair…
But she is fairer in mine eyes and in company,
Her charms art abundant, her beauty so rare!
I care not if others claim she is not as grand…
As the women in their fantasies, and dreams,
For to me she is the fairest in this or any land.
More pleasant than the softest forest streams!

She is rare of wit and charm and oh so sweet,
Her hair is black like a raven’s ebon feathers.
I find myself counting the hours until we meet,
Thinking of all the joys we will know together.
That I might behold her rich, soft brown eyes,
And see in them the light of eternal adoration!
Fairer to me than the darkness of night skies,
Filled with stars to smile down in celebration.
Her light is of her radiant spirit, fairer by far…
Than is the glow of the precious moon, itself!
Each day I feel elation, when we two confer,
And, she is a blessing unto me, such wealth…
Beyond the treasures of the ages as hoarded,
By those who know not the value of virtues!
Her treasure, is her heart, of purity afforded,
Like none I hath known, in many centuries…

As: no royalty couldst so envision in splendor.
Her skin, is not the porcelain of a pale doll…
It is richer, more gentle, more real and pure,
Because it is her own, and so thus I do extol:
The perfection of her as the Goddess’s own!
I told her this when last we spoke, that I saw,
In her, such divine beauty as herein is shown.
To me she is an angel, and such is her glow…
That I close mine eyes, seeing her as vividly,
As any visions of glory sent by gods on high.
I am happy she chose as part of her destiny,
The love I do bear her, enough to make sigh:
The fair folk of the worlds beyond this Earth,
Who sing all their days of glories long past…
Knowing nothing of glory, or glory’s worth!
Oh how they must sigh, all who eternally last:

Cherubs on clouds, who must smile on her…
That beautiful flower like unto not any other!
What other, couldst such loving verses stir?
I would needs must, mine eyes to so cover,
Were, I to behold greater beauty than she…
But there is no need to seek after any such.
I am so happy with my angel, so blessedly!
And so I pen in her honor, and thus touch,
The face of my angel in my mind’s eye thus:
Gently, softly, tenderly and with reverence!
No bard couldst do other, and so I must…
Sing here of my muse, in all of her radiance.
I am inspired, and in my inspiration I pen…
I pen with fire, with glory, and with all zeal!
She is, my contemplation; she: is my Zen…
Only far better, for she is divinity made real.

Oh angel, never think that thou art lesser…
Than those, whom society calls beauteous!
More splendid art thy black raven feathers,
Than the white of the angels called glorious.
They hold not a candle to thee, never shall,
And if thou art a fallen angel, as I am also…
Then let us fly together, even if we two fall!
Better thy company, than Heaven’s woe…
For Heaven to me is not paradise without,
Thee at my side, to share in pleasant times!
So smile, sweet one, and so do not pout…
For just as I honor thee here in my rhymes,
We shall walk together, soon, so laughing!
So singing, that people will think us mad…
As in happy times we will both be basking.
So smile my sweet one, and never feel sad!

Soon thou wilt see the rain and the trees…
Of thy dreams, and thy hand clasping mine,
Will be warm even in the winter’s breeze!
It shall not be so long, sweet angel sublime.
No more, the heat and the fellness of cities,
Nor the malice of others who hounded ye!
Soon will come the day for thee to seize…
And, at my loving side, thou shall fly free.

We will fly, together!
Two angels: of black feather.
To a garden containing two flowers!
Mine, a black rose of night’s own powers,
The other blooming like the sun, brilliantly…
A flower just for thee: for my sweetest ivy!

A Few Polite Words

I could’ve walked past you without saying hello.
You didn’t have to respond to my greeting.
Other admirers also said hello to you,
But you found my approach more pleasing.
I said a few polite words to you,
And we enjoyed the moments that followed.

The party was swinging, and we were so excited.
I could’ve said I had to go and dampen your enthusiasm,
But we were having such a good time.
It was a lovely evening, and you knew how to dance.
We wined and dined when the moon came out.

If you hadn’t stayed at the party a few minutes longer,
I wouldn’t have met a nice lady like you.
And you wouldn’t be in my arms now.
We have an outstanding love for each other.
It’s a love that’s too good to be true.

A few polite words did wonderful things for us.
That was a long time ago; now look at you!
Darling, you haven’t changed a bit since then.
You’re still the sweet lady I saw at the coastal resort.
I bless the night we found love and happiness.

her.

Stretched out on the floor
our 'bed of pillows'
laid between my legs
me, leaning against the couch
her head and body rested
on my chest— within my arms

We watched Swingers
for the umpteenth time

Absent-mindedly,
her fingertips
circled the delicate skin
where hand meets wrist
bewitched
I watched her, in tantalizing turmoil
relished every caress
deeply inhaled her smell
of coconut and Florida sunshine
a combination
that inflames
without fail to this day,
when sense memory
instantly recognizes,
triggering perfect remembrance.

Pinpointing my sexuality's origins,
is where my heart and body's
enmeshed realizations
bore confidence
causing a conjoined reaction
of newly blossomed raw ardour
along with a freeing ease

her
her affects on me

Were erotic relief,
making perfect sense.

Desiring her
was so exquisitely right
cherished and white fucking hot
giving me clear understanding
that was always how my tide flowed
how it was always there

Any ingering curiousness
or questioning need
was uncovered, met and satiated

Everything
i had once hidden
shined so beautifully

once owned

Apology

I owe myself an apology for not recognizing the sweetness that resides within me,
For giving it all to someone who sought only to deplete it all in me.
Am sorry myself for the thick skin, I tried too hard, searching for a wrong shoulder to lean.
In the process, I buried something in me that had not yet blossomed , a dormant seed to sprout.

I was just a saint, and they? Snakes not heavenly sent.
I said I am searching, but I was just learning.
Learning not to give up too fast, for nothing beautiful is easy getting.

I owe myself an apology for not finding you sooner; perhaps I could rewrite my future.
I was a fool; for thinking my first heartbreak was the end, yet the beginning, the journey ext_end.
For not realizing a loser can still be winning.
For saying a king was never akin to a slave, yet I was to my queen.

I owe myself an apology for loving the wrong ones.
For burying this gem in shadows, i was unaware of its brilliance
For not realizing every setback was a lesson in disguise, they were steps to my perfection
But before I apologize myself, You owe me an apology first for not meeting me sooner than now, for making me pass and see the unforeseeable, yet controllable.

BEFORE TIME IS UP

I  never thought
I  would wind up in love
The way it came, to like what it brought
It hit me hard, in the heart, nooo noooo
A huge shot...

(Gun sound)

Now I'm clingy, I feel attached,
I'm so crazy, I'm so fucked.....
My mind now, it'll rush to rot,
Inside in, inside out
Maybe it's the one, maybe it's not

I'm escaping this now,
Before time is up
Before time is up...
Before time is up
Before time is up
Oh nooo
Before time is up.....
Oooooooo
What now???
If my time is up.....

It's not a game
Are you feeling the same?
The way I feel why do I feel so much pain
Feeling happy, feel angry, raptly.....
Feel my craze

Thinking of you
Is what I'm afraid to do
Leads me only, to a messed-up ruse
Nothing new, I know the doom
I'll be screwed soon
