Tailor-made
Midway in lifelong sea quest
sequestered in a crow's nest
on this here maiden voyage
not just any wench would do;
drops aplenty women are
in an ocean fluid with many
a sailor's fantasy
girls gone wild caught
brought into the market -
I was never much a fisherman
while likewise living
a half-life of above and below
water's surface waiting
for me to get to know - You!
more beautiful than Poseidon's
daughters - a deep blue
wet dream come true;
my mermaid tailor-made
for Ahavati with Love 💜💑💋

30/30 Winter
‘The soul that sees beauty may sometimes walk alone’
-Goethe
1
The crisp top of each wave
knows Winter as it breaches the wind.
The birds shorten their bodies to it,
ruffling in the breeze where they stand
and the low Sun knows it too;
it sinks a glowing amber disk
surrounded by grey sky.
The land is patched in whitest snow
peppered in browned and grey foliage.
2
How do I know Winter?
She comes to me at night
in light to dim to see.
I only feel her chanting, telling me
she exists and I cannot escape her.
I only feel her against the tops of my
bare hands which redden to her touch.
I only know the emptiness that is her truth;
that death is the lives she takes,
that she guarantees she will purify us somehow,
all of us that none will escape.
3
And I hear the Winter birds, the lonely,
sparse chirps breaking her silence as if
they can outlast her, with every breath
I feel crisp and sullen truths befall me,
crisp as snowflakes and every bit
as unique.
We are all patterned this way.
We will all die in our own way
only after living in the one pattern
we fashion to one day die in.
4
The bird dies feathered
after a lifetime of growing feathers.
I will die a poet after a
lifetime of writing poetry.
My words are breaching
some windy surface, they are
enduring winter, I am enduring.
And God is speaking, His voice
louder in Winter as my voice is
louder when Winter is my
only companion.

Proverbs [ NaPoWriMo 2019 Collection ]
Afterward
What are Proverbs
but experienced moments
becoming wiser
than you were
a-second's blink before
Stumble, pull yourself up
with Universal apron strings
amid this second chance-space;
some absorb truth; others deflect
knowledge, grow resentful, bitter
seeing unjust punishment
by an all-powerful Deity
versus accept responsibility
Life offers infinite direction-
blueprinted situations
we charted ourselves
to learn every action—
thus reaction— stems
from only one of two emotions:
Love which releases—
doesn't demand presence
or attention, gracefully respects
someone's freedom;
lets them live peaceably;
and,
Fear that holds on—
won't let go; pursues
pleads their own desire
infiltrates another's sacred space;
attempts temple desecration
through jealous, subversive acts
fooling the innocent—
all in vain. . .
they realize too soon—
miserable intent
becomes a karmic sentence
no matter pleading forgiveness—
such cyclic wheel must finish
As my Father said:
'Therein lies the difference
between those who prayed
for their enemies' happiness
and those who spitefully
cursed them'

POET'S LOT
Poem 30 of 30
Poets are not the inventors of love
nor the designers of hate.
Painting with words the world they observe
with broad or detailed strokes.
Life's pleasure and pain to expose,
and it's beauty to accentuate.
In their reader's soul
the profoundest of thoughts do inculcate.
The pall of overwhelming grief
or sensual flame it stokes.
Poets are not the inventors of love
nor the designers of hate.
Feelings anchored in heart set sail
on course to brain do they navigate.
When a poem strikes a chord
with sweet memories it evokes.
Life's pleasure and pain to expose,
and it's beauty to accentuate.
Some write on spiritual topics,
Their firm beliefs to promulgate.
Others on family matters
The joy or angst it provokes.
Poets are not the inventors of love
nor the designers of hate.
If ordained to be a poet
by deity, happenstance or fate.
Well wield the weapon of words
Humanity to kindness coax
Poets are not the inventors of love

The festivities beckon us to linger,
under starlight, whether it’s cyan
or a royal blackness, it remains,
seen or not. In this kitchen
brightness, designed to make sure
a finger avoids the blade, this is why
we, too, assemble in this very
receptacle of pollen and lean
away from each other
as we fling our words, and loiter
until we reincarnate as sharp
beacons, overhead are the planes,
and in the overhead is a translucent
sheet marked of subjects,
lists of gentle demarcations
decaying. We move as flamingos,
crowd the manicured lawns,
and let the needles brush our hair
at a turtle pace out of water.
We get in our cars. Glass
can’t stop the direction
of our words and we sign
all the way home, on the same
side of the road, up to a fork
and we take them all
back to the city, steely and yellow,
bound by a string as tall as time.

Ahoy there, Crew and Landlubbers following along.
Being that there was no dock
we dropped anchor at Poet's Rock
and everyone dove into the cove
before entering the foreboding cave
This experience was quite a shock
for the newbies of our crewbies
Pitch black enveloped everything!
Tunnel of Darkness was harrowing
and narrowing; quite claustrophobic
scarrowing even for the brave
We forged ahead, each head
barely above water when someone said:
I'm having the strangest sense of Deja Vu!
Me too!
Feeling was mutual amongst the entire crew
But how is that possible if I'm new
and never been in here before?!?
That's when an unfamiliar female voice
replied in a British accent
The Tunnel of Darkness symbolizes
the Unknown you subjected yourself to
throughout the entire month of April
having no idea what was in store!
Ohhhh!
Ahhhhhh
[i]Ooooooh/i]
Yes, it was very profound and deep ...
Deep as the well lit Underground chamber
we found the tunnel leading us into!

I know it's exciting, but lets try to contain the celebration to the NaPo Discussion thread or otherwise it will get all kinds of confusing.

April Fool
two favorite forms
just seventeen syllables
senryu and haiku
minimalistic
as few as three simple words
speaking in volumes
but competition
during the month of april
requires fifty words
fifty unique words
are written in the guidelines
comply or expelled
comply yet adhere
to minimalist ideal
added six more
unnecessary bur required
by the rulemakers now more than fifty
in compliance
please please please forgive
verbosity in april
it’s temporary

Royal Exhibition
tendril
rootlets
descend into
murky depths
anchoring her to princess earth
teasing
through
sand rock
creeping in detritus
sharing mud with aquatic creatures
drawing
nutrients
from
muck and slime
leathery ovoid leaves
drifting
lazily
on mirrored surface
absorbing energy from sun king
queen lotus
shamelessly
spreading petals of her crown
exposing her inner self
