The Eve of a New Career
Tomorrow is the day when I will finally see
If I’m made of the right stuff the decision made by me
Now I have to follow through I have no other choice
I had to exercise my rights I had to use my voice
Not standing up to being used as I had been for so long
I don’t even feel like what I did was so wrong
I walked in then quit with few words truly spoken
But instead of feeling forlorn or even broken
I feel like I’m ready for a new challenge and one of delight
It may be so wrong but it just feels so right
On the edge on the verge of a brand new...

Change Is In The Air
It seems that there is a great change just hanging in the air
Most walk by not wondering why and not minding a single care
Toward it and it’s direction though the clues are painfully there
Almost as if the thought of change was too much for them to bare
Though getting complacent is a fate almost unfair
As they pile on everything g at once and then just stop and stare
Never lifting a hand or finger to show how much they flare
Yet grabbing you and holding tightly as quickly they ensnare
As you’ll find they’re certainly behind Tis truly quite the scare ...

Much Ado About Nothing
Come on down it is time to see
This sh*tshow called my sanity
Tugged from one end to the next
It’s more confusing then reading some text
Without inflection or a smiley face
A million and one answers with which to trace
The colors and feelings laid out before you
Get it wrong and you’re likely to screw
The whole thing up and wrapped neatly in a ball
While you sit there and watch it fall
Right off the ledge without a single word
But with all this earwax will never be heard

Away
I question myself umpteen times a day
For I’ve never known any other way
Although I’m bout to burst with what I’ve got to say
There aren’t enough words to make you stay
I remember the days when we would frolic and play
How you’d go off running this or the other way
I would try to catch you and fro strength I’d pray
But there were no others how there were today
You took off running before Id pushed sleep away
Didn’t leave a note or say if you’re okay
But I guess I should’ve know how the pendulum swayed
And I should’ve know that...
For I’ve never known any other way

Sleep
Oh sweetest temptress that is sleep
How I long for your embrace
As it’s been the longest of days
Would I ever love to see your face
To drift off into a land of dreams
Where there will come a return
Yet restful slumber is what awaits
Can you not tell how much I yearn?
I wish to nuzzle ever longer
Into this sweet sanctuary called a bed
But only too soon am I brought to reality
With this alarm clock rattling by my head
Cursed fiend tonight you have breathed your last
As I relax back to sweet slumber I’m not the future and the past
How I long for your embrace
As it’s been the longest of days

Ode to My Anxiety
Oh this dreaded anxiety is starting to kill me
On the one hand it’s very clear the path I can see
A new life to be found, new path to destiny
But though I try to struggle and plea
There’s always some consequence, some Ill fee
For nothing good will ever come for free
From the highest of mountains to the deepest of seas
Without a care to the amount of good deeds
I’m always punished like a bad seed
By the haughtiest of people swallowed by greed
Who cannot and will not ever fulfill my need
Though I know my wants are very different indeed ...

Return of the Worker Bee
I feel I’m on the verge of something quite new
Leaping blindly into the unknown, my fears far and few
A different career, a different path in front of me
While the finish line is what I came to see
I will apply myself to make this change
So I can meet this goal and rearrange
My life into something better than it’s been
To be able to look in The mirror and grin
Getting away from what used to bring me great joy
Now leaves me feeling like I’m a worthless toy
Soonly I hope that I can truly break free
And once more become like the worker bee
Leaping blindly into the unknown, my fears far and few
A different career, a different path in front of me

Just a Little
The words are not coming to me tonight
It’s not like I’m preoccupied by some greater plight
Nor do I have a million worries or woes
I guess that’s just how sometimes this goes
I have an idea like many others of my craft
While it isn’t much, it’s something to give back
To ease a little discomfort from the heroes that are
Who travel to the hospitals where there jobs are
If I can do just a little to help them out during this stress
It isn’t much and it isn’t the best
But try I must as every little bit counts
For the ones I can, better off...

Too Much is Enough
Long held responsible for things so out of my control
You can’t see my anxiety, but this all takes a toll
As I’m poked and prodded to stretch myself all the farther
And I can’t say no but I’m not looking to be a martyr
How can I continue when I’ve nothing left to give?
When life is all about taking, on what shall I live?
These responsibilities unknowingly, unwantedly placed on my shoulders
But I am not Atlas, and cannot handle the planet much less these boulders
I stumble in my steps, though I know it could be worse
This isn’t even a mighty...

The COVID Curse
I listen and I wait to once again hear your voice
In person and not just over the phone like now, we have no choice
Not so far off but so very far away
I can’t wait to see the light, the dawning of a new day
When we shall re-emerge from our comfortable homes
Once again over the land we shall roam
Till I can find myself some comfort t on the warmth of your arms
Losing ourselves to each other and our worthwhile charms
Oh i cannot wait for the day when this curse will set us free
But until then I will try my best to wait patiently

And So It Pounds
Hearing my own heartbeat reverberate in my skull
Feeing each best as my pulse keeps its rhythm
Steady as always and yet feels so much more
Like a jackhammer to my bones, a pleasure unbidden
As I sink to the floor hoping coolness will prevail
Using my hands ice cold as a sort of ice pack
Only temporary relief do I find in them
Turning off the lights doesn’t pick up the slack
Vision blurry from the pain, yet I can still read
All of the cantankerous words that appear on my screen
And before i can utter even one syllable, a word
They’re...

Fan those flames dear and help them to burn stronger
Make the fires roar and last all the longer
This is only the beginning as we have just begun to play
