I agree that plagarism is shitty, But this site has always been free.

Plagarism has to be exact for example if I wrote:

The sea is black etc

Then some one wrote:

The sea is black etc

That is plagiarism. But if they wrote:

The sea is dark etc

Where do you draw the line? It has to be a word for word copy to be plagiarism.
If some one copied an entire poem the internet code could prove that.  If you can prove a code copy. Raise it with the adminstators.

Why not get a programmer to set up a code that checks for exact copies?

Then have a box that says "this has already been published" prohibiting you to continue.

Go for it at the root rather than the flower.

(No rape, no racism, those are the things I cannot tolerate.)

I voted yes to ban, but did it too fast really (when the thread was brand new). I believe in giving second chances. Maybe third. BUT there is a difference between being actually sorry, and just sorry you got caught. It would be useful to know exactly what we were dealing with in each situation, but I guess hindsight is 20/20. One person on here has stolen from me, been banned, refused to remove the content and is now banned again. I bet she still won't remove it.

Simple as this and I'll borrow the quote seeing as it's in the public domain: public questions

"Hullo

you were  banned because you plagerised other people's work. a deliberate act / attempt to deceive your fellow colleagues. a chance was given some months ago.. you continued

as a result your account is flagged for suspension / delete"

you'll find the full exchange in the pubiic questions (as I understand it)

As it stands our policy is to afford / gift the offender a chance to redeem him or her or themselves

after that the proses proceeds. it may not be lightening quick but it will be finite

Aloysius Percival Plago you have been found guilty by a jury of your peers of this most heinous of online offences.
In addition, you have asked me to consider various occasions when you downloaded music, movies and pornographic material and watched soccer using a VPN without rendering remuneration to the rightful owners,
However, I take into account that these lesser thefts bear no comparison to stealing poetic material, posting it elsewhere and passing it off as your own work, in the feeble misguided hope of receiving plaudits from your online acquaintances.
The internet must be protected at all costs and it is my duty therefore to ban you from all online activity for a period of one year and I must further warn you that any related subsequent offence will automatically result in a lifetime ban with the word PLAGO being inked in black capital letters, indelibly upon your forehead.

Some here think it's okay to steal. Our criminal justice system does NOT agree. If you voted to give thieves a second chance, I'd like the keys to your car---I'll steal it and you'll forgive me.....right?
