I like the idea of one world government. Most of the stupid shit in the world is driven by borders.
Foreign flagging corporations
Exporting poverty
Insane military spending
Some dumbarses still working without the metric system
Warlords
Drug trafficking
Poor carbon policy
Global wealth inequality
Piss poor reactions to pandemics
.........the list goes on.

Hahahahaha @ metrics!
But I've never really looked at it this way.
You make the most excellent point, especially in regards to pandemics and health care.

I'd imagine a lot of us are starting to question Globalisation. I am at any rate. World markets & travel all have their merits but not in a Pandemic. I liked some of what Donald Trump was saying last night in regard to shortage of medicines. He said the USA imports a lot of that stuff but because the World is in lockdown, he can't get hold of supplies. He said (not the exact quote) the USA needs to manufacture these medicines at home. Makes sense. Ok, it's nice that Russia shipped a load of supplies to America yesterday but the cynic in me can't help thinking there is a catch somewhere.

Just because your littering is is part of your religious ritual, don’t make it right
(We all make prayers in our small ways. Every ambulance I see with its lights on gets a small spoken wish from me, for the person in it having some kind of life-changing moment. Been doing that since before I can remember. Ritual is a thing)
Doesn’t make it wrong, either.
Planting a small piece of paper in the soil , is no different than seed-tape that is sold in stores—both will biodegrade and grow something . At least I didn’t leave masks and gloves , littered around like I’ve been seeing people do—those don’t biodegrade.
Now if I had said I’d written my message on toilet paper, everyone would be asking me, exactly where I buried it, so they can gps their way over , dig it up & add it to their hoardes.

Might it have been better to plant a seed near the mortuary overflow site, Madame & watch it grow into a beautiful flower at such a heartbreaking time? I say flower, because we can see & watch it grow. We can't see a piece of paper in the soil, unfortunately. Would you be happy to share with us, your personal prayer written on that paper?

Words can be seeds as well and they can have different visual outcomes than a flower seed—something will bloom from it, and what I hope will bloom, is those trucks and tents being removed because they won’t be needed. The land can go back to its original intended purpose —recreation fields, and the grass can re-grow, where it’s being stifled by truck tires and tent canvas .
But here’s what I wrote on the very small paper:
“Behold I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions , and over all power of the enemy : nothing shall by any means hurt you” Luke 10:19
“Coronavirus, death and fear —you are not welcome here. We take back our lives and country from you, in the name of Jesus “
^^writing out and/or speaking out, the word of God along with a few of my own, has its own power , to those of us who believe. It was like putting my own tent peg , in the ground and reclaiming the place for life, not death and corona is a serpent of sorts.

It is funny about those unexpected consequences.
with much less people driving lately, the air gets fresher
then only a few days ago everyone ran out and bought all the
meat at the grocery store. Not a cut left.
Then everyone has got all this expiring meat in their fridges,
and lo and behold, the grocery is chock full of meat,
to the point they are marking it down by 50%, because
everybody is frantically trying to use up what they bought already.

Josh said:" I have a concern I have seen over my lifetime a paranoia in some political circles about letting the government do anything effective. The only interpretation I can come up with is there is a desire in some quadrants to prevent functional government so people don’t remember that government is important. So, if you live in some industry where you fear governmental regulation, then getting rid of government by rendering it feeble and ineffective and then declaring it a waste of money is a strategy. And, at this moment, we can’t afford for those voices to hold sway, we actually have to see government wielded effectively because, frankly, there’s no other way out of this predicament. ~ Bret Weinstein"
Well Bret, your lack if imagination is what led to 'the final solution' in Nazi Germany.
Okay, so what does your imagination imagine could happen to get us as a country back up and running, aside from having a farm and growing our own food, being we would need money to purchase a farm and seeds to grow? Not to mention equipment, animals, etc.
Seriously, that is something we could work towards once back on our feet, given we've all learned a lesson here. But, right now we are dependent upon the functionality of our government to help us. And that is not a lack of imagination. It's an unfortunate fact if our government does take advantage of this circumstance by becoming even more authoritarian than their Commander in Chief.

I think there's lots of things we could take from this when it's over
hospital capacity. can't speak for any other system but for years ...decades even we've been crying out for beds, for extra staff, equipment and so forth. way I see it: lives are live, apparently we have the capacity for beds and staff when the world is watching. it'd be nice if we could keep what we have
The environment around us started to heal itself after a couple of weeks : smog in Wiuhan dissipated, the canals in Italy became clear for the first time ever and lots more I dont know about
'Praps we can have a semi lockdown one month of every year to help heal the environment around us
Some countries , mostly the bogeyman regimes China, Russia, Cuba all sent teams of doctors, medicine and equipment to ravaged areas even the US which in turn tightened sanctions on Iran and put a 5million bounty on the Venezuelan leader. theres a stark difference of deeds going on
I like the governor of New York
I dont like the governor of Eire

I think the letter I've pasted in below from the Tamera Community here in Portugal provides and interesting and imaginative response (the bold is Tamera's, not mine):
Learning From Corona: What Is Possible Through Fear
Must Also Be Possible Through Trust
Dear friends and partners all over the world,
Thanks to the coronavirus, we as humanity are currently learning something very precious. We're learning how powerful and efficient something incredibly tiny can be when it resonates with a latent field. This tiny thing, in this case, is a virus. The latent field is fear – an immense, collective fear of the future: an ingredient and counterpart of turbo-capitalism on the edge of global collapse.
Things are happening today that no one else has been able to achieve, not the climate strikes or environmental actions of recent years, nor the UN in all its years of existence, nor all the efforts, threats, appeals, movements and scientists, nor the Pope or other authorities. Now we're seeing determined, rigorous action across all continents. Industry, tourism, education, sports... Large areas of public life in many countries of the world have been locked down. Humanity is on pause. And suddenly, the skies over China and northern Italy are clearing up again – air pollution is decreasing dramatically – people stay at home and finally have time for themselves, to reflect and contemplate, think about what is essential, be with their children and the people close to them. In Italy, they're singing to each other from windows and balconies.
Who or what could cause this? Who has so much power? We've heard conspiracy theories about the origin of the virus, but we deliberately don't deal with them here. If the new coronavirus was actually passed to humans from wildlife, we could see it as a measure of nature to help humanity to finally change our lives.
Regardless of whether the virus is man-made or natural, it shows us how fragile and vulnerable our globalized systems are and that humanity is capable of fundamentally changing its collective behavior, literally from one day to the next. Let's take the forced pause mode to imagine how a healing transformation in our societies could come about! How will we supply ourselves – who are the ones around us that we can cooperate with – what will we do when the global systems actually collapse?
Perhaps later we will look back on the corona crisis as a great collective exercise in which we began to develop the decentralized community systems with which we could respond to the ecological and social crises. Fear and panic aren't good advisors. The qualities we need most at this time of radical change are trust, mutual support, responsibility for the whole, flexibility and openness in the face of the unpredictable.
Something remains startling: the incredible power of the virus and its ability to show humanity that we're much more intimately connected than we thought. When a substance in our airways, which is only transmitted through direct contact, spreads around the world within a few weeks, we can say: We are indeed one breath.
And that is good news. Why shouldn't we also be able to use this intimate unity of life on Earth to start a positive movement? What is possible through fear must also be possible through trust. From mouth to mouth, something quite different than a virus could then be shared.
Above all, there is a message of hope and certainty for the future: that we're part of a large community of people, animals, nature and divine beings who form a unified whole, who support, help, perceive, complement and love each other. The Earth and humanity can be healed, even at this stage, and in a short time, if we humans realize and accept our real task. Love and unity are the basic substance in the alliance of all living beings – that is the good news.
What do we need to make this good news spread just as quickly as the virus does now?
We need to resonate with another collective field within us, one that is much deeper than fear – a field that is still hidden at the moment. It's the collective field of trust, the matrix of life, which Dieter Duhm refers to as the “sacred matrix.” For, despite all the suffering, all the horrors of the past and all the threats, life is still oriented towards joy, curiosity and survival. There is a core within us that knows this. This core is called trust.
And as absurd as it may seem to many in the face of all the precautions and restrictions, this is our common task now – to strengthen the field of trust through everything we do, think, communicate and how we interact with each other. This is also our work in developing Healing Biotopes: working together to shake off the trauma of fear and activate the deeper layer of trust. This will be the foundation of a new culture.
With warm regards on behalf of the Tamera community,
Leila Dregger

[Letter]
It's a very beautiful letter that I wholeheartedly agree with; however, it refers more to consciousness awakening to trust as an evolution process of understanding both during and post-virus. Here's the thing, I am not afraid because I know whatever happens is meant to happen ( this includes the possibility of me contracting it ). The majority that I know do not fear the virus, they are cautious of humans, and how they act when a survival mode kicks in.
This means that desperate people who do NOT trust and are afraid, will stop at almost nothing to feed themselves or their family. All one has to do is observe the security camera footage in stores to see this, virus or Black Friday Sale.
What Bret Weinstein was saying was that NOW is not the time to go all anarchy nor pay heed to government conspiracy theories. He is saying that to get out of this, we need to rely on a properly functioning government to get us back up and running now. This does not mean to allow the government to exceed their authority.
I saw you mention something about Denmark's mandatory vaccines, so I read the bill. It strictly refers to covid-19, and has a sunset clause ( meaning it will end ) in affect one year from enactment. The mandatory vaccination will only occur IF and WHEN a successful vaccine against covid-19 is developed. This is to protect the general population from the disease spreading.
I agree with it. It's no different from the polio or measles vaccines. Or a smoker whose second hand smoke can cause lung cancer. Smokers yell and scream about their rights, which I understand; however, when their rights infringe on my rights to not breathe secondhand smoke, the story changes.
I have a right to refuse something to protect myself. I don't have a right to subject anyone else to the consequences of that decision. Do you think someone infected with a highly contagious disease such as covid-19 has a right to roam freely amongst others who do not? Do their rights supercede the rights of others to be healthy?
Josh, you are someone of great intellect whom I personally admire. I don't say that to many people, so when I do, it's genuine. However, that being said, there are times I feel you are being flippant to the circumstance of others because of your own personal lifestyle. It's GREAT that you grow your own food, or exchange with others who do, and you're in a close knit community that does. However, not everyone is, and many are products of their environments, living the way they were taught, with no knowledge or means to live an alternate way.
It would almost be like me saying, well everyone just needs to work from home, because I do. That simply is not the case, nor even possibility for many.
So, my question stands, what does your imagination suggest to humanity ( aside from waking up consciously and learning from this ) in order to survive this without government right now. Keep in mind that trust is a slow process for many who have been hurt by those they've loved the most. If it weren't for corporate America belaying disconnects and late fees for services, and the government distributing stimulus checks, they would be losing a great deal this month.
I don't think Bret Weinstein lacked imagination as much as he was stating reality.
With respect
A

Well, the inevitable happened. My sister-in-law's grandmother, who recently moved to a nursing home in NY, now has people with COVID-19 living in her facility. I am sad and furious. Everyone acts like CA's Gov. Newsom is a genius and Gov. Cuomo is doing his job. Newsom is just exhibiting common sense, and Cuomo deserves to burn hot for eternity.
Edit: Scrolling up, I see that I am in disagreement with others about Cuomo. I am hearing from my brother and his wife about the situation in NY, and this is how I feel. I am in CA, where we had a headstart on flattening the curve, so I admit it's a very privileged position.
