Dear Best Friend
Dear Best Friend, I love the way your eyes
Created those soft pink skies you painted,
And how they glowed when you sang lullabies,
And when those eyes met mine I near fainted
Dear Best Friend, I wish I could be him.
I wish I could help heal your wounded past
And hold you tight and kiss your lips, not him,
And if I could I’d make those moments last.
Dear Best Friend, I’ve seen you cry before,
And as I wipe away the tears I made,
I hate the fact I need something much more,
But to ignore these thoughts would be insane.
Dear Best Friend, I am in love with you,
And I simply wish you could love me too.

I was in love with the idea of falling in love,
It eluded me so many times in so many ways,
And though I chased it I didn’t test the waters,
When I threw myself completely with a craze.
But I failed, filled with a feeling still reeling,
A passion sure to make anyone delighted,
Young with so much to live, so much to give,
Yet the emotion went quiet and unrequited.
So there I went, off into the dark unknown,
My heart forlorn with so much to share,
Burned when my love went unreturned,
My heart alone in dejection and despair.

Someone Who Will Give You Requited Love
Why do you want to hold onto him?
He is only going to give you thorns
And deserts. He is only going to skim
Your surface and pages, but warns
You that he is not going to dive deep
Within your depths. He does not want
To know you or know what will keep
You up at night. It is going to haunt
And hurt you when he loves someone
Else entirely more. It is going to leave
Scars all over your skin when the sun
Is shining brighter for their sleeve-
Less kind of love and affection. Let
Him go because someone will be out
There who wants to know you wet,
Dry and leads you beyond the drought.
He is only going to give you thorns
