Pen of Feathers

Oh yes, I know what sinister looks like;
sinister and I are old frenemies,
and you could think still further back.

You overlook the fact that
all blackbird, raven, and crow
are relations to the spirit world I know.

Indifference will not assuage
from the intelligence they carry
to keep me from daydreams

that feed not what I should know,
while what you profess makes sense
I too don't understand where it applies,

especially concerning magpies,
who are a generation distant from me
where trees are cousins who converse regularly.

So show me what you will or not,
I am mystified enough, to decipher
what I have seen in one's own soliloquy.

The SNVL Of Reading .

1)
The monotone
we drive avatars to
when we're
hiding our heads
in unlit
halls

while, white blood cells
accumulate
un-needed wealth
-immunity
draining lymphatics
in grey chemotherapeutic
mercury salivating
mouths

2)
The young ones
(and some old ones)
but mostly teens
toss the laundry out
in two by twos
Colorfully splattering
decorations

left
forgotten

unresurrected

3)
I prefer hieroglyphics:
the Koi San
were the first people
known to walk my country's
trails, living the cave life

they painted poetry
on the walls
of any rock
that lay
asking for it

Now it's considered
an artform
-heritage

I was studying these

could you imagine
painting life stories
on rock
with the powder ground
from other rocks?

4)
This evening
is cold
(even the book I'm reading, shivers)

I've been fortunate
this week my lover visited,
stayed more than
one night

our skins would sleep
plaited
with Cyanoacrylate
beneath bedsheets

I bond all enigmas
in bandages
membranes
and medical
super glues

-x-

Crescent🌛

You force upon me
a misty recall, bringing
our duel seasons into focus

while segmenting an orange
as I absent-mindedly
walk the garden.

A waxing crescent moon
ascends for a
third evening in a row

racing the juice that runs
up my arms
for its first sticky taste.

These thoughts unchanging
despite
a day's unrelenting heat

that transforms a night
that’s still too warm to wear
my hair unbound.

We live different halves,
opposing lives
same endless horizon.

Faint light hooks the
ends of damp hair
in that moment of solstice

when how lovely the
scent of rind
won't wash off me for days.

McDowell Was Injured Anyway.

Books that become plays
-invent films
which don't always do
justice in the read

then again, some
sparkle delight.

McDowel's interpretation
of Alex,
in A Clockwork Orange
lands as perfectly
on the screen
as Singing In The Rain
dropped on the stage;
-studiously as the
doctorate framed and hung
at Moorfields Eye Hospital

Antique lid-locks
held eyes shut open
-baroque anesthetics
numbed;
doctor's administered
eye
drops

those eyes blinked
-yes, they did!

slicing the side of
his cornea
cutting,
the scene short

McDowel endured
twenty eight minutes
of ruthless sex
in the name of
fast forward film-art.

Who said acting was
not a contact sport?

Did literature deserve an
"X" rating
for the preventing
of high-speed
pornography?

Is orange the new
black?

-thumbs up
-elbows together
-bums out

atuti ta, atuti ta
atuti tatae!

A Fantasia of Perfection

Perfection is to realize it's there
Before your very eyes,
To open wide the vista of your mind.

It's not obtained by ownership of Man,
It's given, courtesy
Of Mother Earth & God, to feel & know.

To set aside the pain that wrought the soul
To simply sense the grace
Around you in its aura, raw, untouched.

Because of you who lifts the mental veil,
That all is then reveal'd
When spirit, sight & mind gives of itself.

Perfection is not solid in its sphere,
It cannot be defined
As matter of the planets, stars & us.

It's Man who tries to make an earthly gain
And sell to highest bid
As if it can be purchased for its weight.

Perfection, though, is like the very air;
A precious gift that "is"
To every living thing that knows it's here.

Oh my goodness, this is just wonderful..!!!
Thank you to our host for coming up with a genius and unique idea.

I had so much fun writing in this competition that it didn’t matter that there would be a trophy at the end.  I would gladly do this all over again just for the sheer joy of the experience but more importantly on meeting 2 extraordinary people Mister AL and lovely Jade who’s entrance in this comp was pivotal and it elevated to a new level.
And, Al I would forever be grateful to your encouragement in supporting me to keep on writing and I do believe my writing improved exponentially.  You are a multifaceted force of positivity and I’m so glad to have met you.  Thank you!

If its possible I would like to request 2 additional trophies to these amazing  poets because without one there would not be sequence of ‘letters’, their work was equally as beautiful.  I hope it will be taken into consideration by the moderators or the site owner.
