Now this seems poignant. Allow me to get all hippy dippy for a moment... lol
From what I assume, this is your eighth offering in this beautiful series. (Bravo, vous deux 👏🏻👏🏻)
But - eight is infinity. It’s a hugely spiritual number relating to the wisdom and cycle of all things. Hugely significant in Eastern spirituality.
But here’s the thing:
You Leo, were born in the 8th month. Your full name (middle name included) is 17... added together, 8. I bet if you kept looking, you’d find more. So relating this number that certainly is all you to a write feels hugely significant.
Bukowski (8) knew this also. His writing was infinity. It came back to him in cycles and rhythms. It became his reason for his existence. Significant in his publishing experiences too.
Interesting in more ways than you expect, this one. Got me thinking. Thank you.

The exact combination appears again when I landed "The SNVL Of Reading"
Being my poem number 2+2+4 = 8
Today Layla published "The Ghostwriter" poem #26 in her catalogue. 2+6 = 8

Alistair, I beamed when I logged in and your 8th was in my notifications (for the comp...). I couldn't wait as I rushed to the thread to drink it in (as is my reaction whenever I see Layla’s replies come in). My friend, your 8 reads smooth & flows effortlessly as warm, creamy toffee with my coffee. As you & I - we 3, actually - feel blessed for this competition, as if to wish it never ends.

I have huge admiration to poetry written in conscise, disciplined manner especially where there's economy but yet carefully chosen words for emphasis and focus. You have outdone yourself with this one AL, i'm truly impressed how you said so much with few words and on top of all that the way you infused Buk and Wells..dammit, this is when i say, ' i wish i could've written this myself'
btw, i really didn't know how many we had written thus far but then you've always been good at this lol and the way you played that number in here is just masterful.
and another little tidbit, 8 has always been my favorite number, not because of its numerical value or numerology but i'm very drawn to shape of things in nature and around, and its shape has a very meaningful role in my life since childhood.

It's incredibly interesting that numbers are a common thread, throughout our series. Sometimes as numerals, or words, sometimes more subtlely, sometimes in references to their dates, times, number of poems written. The numerical references intrigued me early. I find it quite uncanny really... It caused the need to read them repeatedly again and again. I find it apt that I started at 7. You took it to 8 and it ended at you, 9.
Yes, 8 is a lovely shape and hopefully a sign of infinitive meaning.

was originally a bashful and abrupt end. I was a lot less subtle in the metaphores and references particularly to Orwell and Icarus in my original landing of this. Interestingly the poem ruffled feathers both at home and in these walls. I chose to rewrite it live, on the page...
this was possibly the most intriguing part of the letters for me and a testament to the values of on-line writing.

Is definately not on my list of favourites for our interactive letters, personally I feel thanks are in order to you for the inspiration that wrote McDowel. I would never have written that, had it not been inspired by our interaction.
