Winter Poems
#winter
Winter poems about the coldest season of the year, December to February in the northern hemisphere and June to August in the southern hemisphere. Winter brings short dark days and stillness, as nature sleeps. Here you'll find poems about the beauty of the winter months, and also poems about dealing with cold and challenging weather.
Tropical Rain
I feel, rain pouring, washing me away
I kneel, be-fore him, praying that I am okay
I feel, rain pouring, washing me away
I’m still, detouring, straying off the other way
I really miss those days
Kicking the ball round the block with the bros
Now my rent late
And I’ve been wasting my time with some hoes
Shifting a bag of the bush for the dough
It’s not enough though
Still in the rough though
Never act tough but I’ve been in some scuffs cause my city get cut throat
Feel I’ve been giving it all that I got, but I’m all out of...

Birds call with spring
in tongues
humans cannot understand
but interpret still.
The heart is not deaf;
winter will end
its frigid dominance.
In absence of warmth
we experience belief—
like seeing only the hour
of sun to rise from rest;
as that egret alighting
from the eastern pond.
I never want to leave home;
your own being—
it is no less than pure
within me . . .
as all seasons are.

winter won
I am in giggle
My tail will wiggle,
With the sight of our star
Heat is pumping from afar,
Our face will radiate
All the heat appreciate,
Let the rays hit us out hard
And the winter will be barred,
For the weekend they foresee
More good weather winter free,
Maybe this will be the one
When the winter will be won.
My tail will wiggle,
With the sight of our star
Heat is pumping from afar,
Our face will radiate
All the heat appreciate,

and so to bed ..
went to bed with the central heating
still on it was so cold
and you asked if we could afford it
I didn't know
but oh, for warm toes ..

brain freeze
Ice, cold wind and rain
From this shiver I can’t refrain,
Put on hats and put on gloves
Around our neck we put on scarves,
The blood hardens in our feet
And circulation in retreat,
I don’t know how can one say
That winter’s better anyway,
Their refusal to admit
That this winter has to quit,
Drives my sanity down the drain
Kills the cells around my brain.

Minnesota Tonight
(Currently -50 below Fahrenheit windchill)
Siberian express from the northwest
Blizzard’s fury descends without mercy
Great Gitche-Gumee lake effect
Unpredictable ferocious flurries
Sodas in quilted parkas
With balaclava covered faces
Look like walking grenades
In terrorist masquerade
Thirty below wind-chill
Trapped in a polar vortex
Instantly freezing exposed flesh
Amusing King Boreas Rex
Chisel ice from the windshield
Kick snirtbergs from the wheel wells
Now’s the time to...

New Spring In My Heart
Sunrise, a new day
hope is blooming once again
new spring in my heart
Winter is over
Gone are the cold lonely nights
Thawed by the warm sun
A spring blossom blooms
In my heart's empty garden
Sweet, fragrant, lovely
My heart is aglow
With beauty of springtime
Singing melodies
hope is blooming once again
new spring in my heart
Winter is over
Gone are the cold lonely nights
Thawed by the warm sun
A spring blossom blooms
In my heart's empty garden
Sweet, fragrant, lovely
My heart is aglow
With beauty of springtime

To The Bone
The chill of January
settles in bone
a frigid invasion
the warmth
calls to me
the weight of blankets
her speckled skin
next to me
clinging
shivers subside
near hot places
legs entangled
pinned to the mattress
the creeping humidity
of summer reborn.

Tybee Island
We left Savannah and drove to Tybee Island
Past the seemingly endless saltmarsh
Which stretched to the horizon
And waved in the breeze
We drove over the Back River drawbridge
And after a short while arrived at the beach
We heard the sea gulls cry amid the ocean waves
It was good to see the mighty Atlantic again
We walked past the sand dunes
With their sea oats against the sky
Though it was mid-January
We walked along the beach
With tourist wearing coats and sweaters
But still enjoying the waves, the surf, and the...

freeze away
I think I have the writer’s block
I cannot think I am in shock,
I’m lacking oxygen my blood is freezed
To find the words my mind is squeezed,
To warm the blood get on the go
To circulation give a blow,
I need a girl’s warmth in my way
To look at her at least all day,
And satisfy all of my needs
A kick of life it supersedes
I cannot think I am in shock,
I’m lacking oxygen my blood is freezed
To find the words my mind is squeezed,
To warm the blood get on the go
To circulation give a blow,

To look at her at least all day,

A kick of life it supersedes
