Winter Poems
#winter
Winter poems about the coldest season of the year, December to February in the northern hemisphere and June to August in the southern hemisphere. Winter brings short dark days and stillness, as nature sleeps. Here you'll find poems about the beauty of the winter months, and also poems about dealing with cold and challenging weather.
January
January's twilight horizon was a striking tangerine pink.
The cold brittle hours seem to turn agonizingly slow.
Soul searching with way too much time to think.
Frigid air preserves the stark milk white snow.
The sun and my heart struggle in their morning ascent.
The enigma of despair is disguised in many forms.
Questioning life where the road is unknown and bent.
Answers buried in the ravage of mental storms.
I imagine the soft warmth of spring sun on my face.
Hope prevails despite winter's brutal little death's. ...

Frigid Sky
Time is passing by and slowly
Losing all its breath
Sun is going down so lonely
In the frosty, distant west
Cold nasty winds are blowing
All the hopes fade away
While life is freezing
Into a snowy, powdery haze
Within a frozen moment
Into a crystal winter sky
Memories are melting
Tears open up my eyes
Soon salvation
Will bring a long-awaited end
Reaching primordial creation
Uniting with you, my old friend
Losing all its breath
Sun is going down so lonely
In the frosty, distant west
Cold nasty winds are blowing
All the hopes fade away
While life is freezing

Cold
There are barren worlds where no joy dares to exist.
A mental planet with a void for sun, the light is listless.
Eternal winter snowed upon the corroded cartilage
in my bones.
A carcass of happiness lies shivering on broken stones.
Blood.
Runs.
Ice.
Cold.
To say I'm dead would be so bold.
Pink fire grazes the horizon behind the evergreens.
Somehow a fuschia twilight is magically seen.
This electric mauve light vanishes into the belly of the night.

Winter's Grip
With each arrow piercing through my depth
Pointing to the path of shallow breath
Quivering until the cold air met
Knocked loose until too has left
Footsteps of frost now lost
Frigid gasps soon lapsed
Circle into a mirth full of uncertain purples
Unfurled from icy lips
Cold words set out into the air
Stones to guide the warmth just laying there
The grip of eyes like arrows in their stare
As embers suffer forth toward unaware
Cataclysm masquerading
Extradition unabating
In an adventure unawaiting ...

Leaf Cadavers
The driving miniscule flakes of snow.
Confim the world is a shaken globe.
Dark brown leaf cadavers can still be seen.
Crumbled in death poking through the newborn powder.
The haunted silence is even louder.
Life touching death, unusually serene.
Ghosts of autumn yearn for snowy winter
For a short while, the white world is void of the sinister.
The wind inhales a frozen breath.
A frigid cold whisper upon my neck.
Exhalations of steam, blow at the iced vanilla trees.
Bird population take haven in the branches.

After We Got In The Cabin
After we got in
the cabin and found ourselves
isolated by
the snow, the girls and I stripped
and hump each other right there.

Legos In Translation (a collaboration with adagio)
Oceans of green through the window of eyes
And the blueprints of nature’s serenity
Through the hourglass of autumn’s compose
In fields of Elysian verdant wildflowers
And nature’s Pandora Jack-in-the-Box of
Folded memories and Legos in translation
*****
So lofty are mountains turned tender
When soothed by the warm hands of the sun
Against the harsh white winter a defender
Nature’s bounty would ever humankind stun
To every single season weather and surrender
Then bare your treasure into verses second to none..

another winter
the house was cold;
since I’d retired I'd spent
most of my time in the house,
I was used to the cold
was particularly bad this
year, but perhaps, being old ..
I don’t know where the
time goes, or went, I fear

I was used to the cold
was particularly bad this

I wouldn't say Suicidal but January Challenges One ...
The gloom
Early sunset
Cold earth
Waiting
Just waiting
For what you ask
You know
For a reason to believe
For one warmer day to tease us
For anything
A laugh
A smile
An embrace....

We Should Stay In Here
I agree with you
that we should stay in here and
let it snow
outside as long as we're both
warm and humping on this bed.

into warmer weather
the morning
hours
rakes into
the day,
and each
moment
endures
nonstop
strands of
another
winter
season,
but inching
its way
into warmer
weather.

i sit
here
in winter,
trying to
use the
blanket
to cover
my
cold self,
but the
material
is never
enough
and
my feet,
my toes
always
are ignored
by the
truth.
