STAINED
bathed in stained glass
before morning mass
reflections of rain
run down window's pane
unbuckled and open
no words can be spoken
my mouth on his belt
while all else is felt
to them, I am damned
I am what I am
though try as I might
for me, he's the light
the Eucharist's taste
fills the gash in my face
his fingers slide in
forgiving my sin
For God doth loom beyond his son

Universal Measure
Every grain of sand
counted
‘till time runs out …
that’s how many
Every star
counted
‘till shadows end …
that’s how vast
Every living thing
counted
‘till home they come …
that’s how loved.

Pope's Visit To Fátima, Portugal (12th-13th May, 2017)
This was the world of a holy disorder
came from the cosmos across a bad sea
dragged many sinking across an ill border
inventing new concepts, like sin, by decree
accusing the seekers of some kind of murder
after some years I could see these marauders
twisting the truth like a bribed referee
I said “it’s enough”, for I am a guarder
of innocent minds destroyed by a fee
paid to those men who’re set up as defrauders
I searched in the cellar beyond the old larder
figuring ways how on earth to break free
took many...

Apocalypse
The messenger came in, spoke in his ear,
The one who had received in morning's light,
Of what had come to pass just then that year;
His eyes grew & drew in their hardened sight.
The flames began to flicker at his feet,
The news befalling those in their last breath.
Such unbelieving sadness from its heat
In moments of a generation's death.
The third all-seeing eye that knew their fate,
When destined, one-by-one, as was foretold.
Of all the man-made temples built on...

Jesus Calls
Jesus calls
Who will listen?
I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life
Come and follow me
And I will set you free
No more suffering will there be
For I gave my life at Calvary
So that you may live eternally
The life you live
Live for me
You walked in darkness
But now you have seen the Light
The darkness no longer has a hold on you
For I gave my life at Calvary
And have set you free
Your sin has been atoned for
...

Immigration
In the land of milk and honey
two by two seeds were sown,
their roots clutching the glebe
as a newborn the breast until
the pulpy vertebra was strong.
So when the Lavender came,
Its purpled green headdress
marching toward the razed dune,
the trees received them openly
as a sanctum would sojourners
after 40 years in the wilderness.
For though native now, were once
strangers in the land themselves.*

Saints And Special Messengers
When saints and special messengers visit the earth
you might not hear very much from them
for not being concerned with publicity
they merely do their work and keep moving
asking for rational proof is a bit like
science looking for honey up a gum-tree
because those who have ears to hear will hear anyway
when their visit is over
they leave as quietly as they came
having scattered seeds that add life to many hearts
meanwhile science is a world apart and
proof will be found in who pays the piper ...

Island Monkeys
We live on a remote island hoping
to be rescued. When I say “we” I mean
me, mainly, plus some others whom I see
occasionally in the distance. We keep
ourselves to ourselves, at least I do, so
I assume they do too.
We all struggle on our own hoping
to make it through until one day when
we are rescued. I’m not sure where this
“one-day-I’ll-be-rescued” religion
came from. Perhaps it’s because we are
stranded on Assumption Island.

I Sing...
took my worries
in your hands
made my soul
understand
your grace & love
I wasn’t good at
being alone
you guided me from
where roamed
you gave a hope
you answered me
to all my prayers
your grace was
and it’s sufficient
in you I abide
all the weight
of this world
disappeared
with your words
and I sing…
I sing Hallelujah!
I sing Hallelujah!
I sing Hallelujah!
I sing Hallelujah! ...

An Interesting Transcendental Relationship
I have Deigned,
to descend
to speak of a God Insane,
with his insane friends,
and their Black Fane,
a Holy Domain
profaned.
...-ane
-ane
-ane
This rhyme scheme may feel inane,
but the thoughts they convey,
are far from tame,
because in that Black Fane,
they invoke that White Name,
that Aspro,
Astro,
defined by the lies,
in dogmatic eyes,
because
the Lord,
he Taketh.
He Taketh it All.

not as I do
for holy water crosses
sinners' bowed confessions
stiffening those shepherds
who love
and loathe low their flocks
with preachers screaming hellfire
in our Alabama nightmares
we pray - a mouse in the pew
hoping open the sky's iron door
and they call us John
because we prophesy when the apocalypse
storms through our veins
speak in tongues of honeycomb
and locust
split visions of past and future
all playing out at once
our visions blazing...
