Rain Poems
#rain
Poetry about rain, an ingenuity of the natural world. Beautiful nature poems about how rain nourishes the earth and provides life. Also poems about the power of rain, and how too much of it can negatively impact our lives.
the dry earth and her lover
the dry earth
sleeping
in her own
boundary
of existence,
in a realm
of possibilities,
it's very breath
weights
upon the waking,
thoughts
becoming unraveled,
each moment
longer
is torture,
longing to hear
simple words
from her
absent lover,
the clouds
unknowing
the cause
of her distress,
what
she needs now
is your storms,
pace
back and forth,
talk sweet
to her,
let your blood
flow
like words,
she drinks...

lemonade drops
she stood
lifting
her smile
heavenly,
the lemonade
drops
falling from
overhead
cotton candy
clouds,
she tried
to drink
as much
rain
as she could,
drying
the storm
and bring
back
the banana
sun.

Tomorrow's Rain
Well, there's a place you hide.
Where your soul abides.
And it's deep inside your heart.
Where you'd take a ride, but your mind confides.
And it's not your pride, it's shame.
You'd rather go to that place called home.
But you just don't know, so you play your card.
When you're lost, unknown, and you're feeling owned.
And you've sold your soul to tomorrow's rain.
It may bring you pain.
You may say it's a shame.
But the fact remains.
You can't buy tomorrow's rain today.

The best skies are partly cloudy,
Or partly clear, if you prefer,
As happenstance may be rowdy
And clarity a saboteur
Where turbulence is hard to see
When pressure stokes invisible...
To then commence chaotically
Like something metabolizable,
As when the sky seems most alive;
A vibrant essence to the air
Allowing thought itself to thrive
Like pride upon a foolish dare
Which huffs and puffs before it blows...
A fresh iota from Zephyr's nose!

incredible rain: a pentaprismic suite
of floods and famines, flaws and fools
2. floods
incredible rain
stampeding tears from weeping, trembling clouds
comes down on the plane
chanting its chorus recklessly and loud
tight rivers in spate
are swallowed up by splashing, dashing seas
that slowly abate
when kissed by cheering sun and cooling breeze

of floods and famines, flaws and fools
1. overture
incredible rain
stampeding tears from weeping, trembling clouds,
whose utterance the evensong enshrouds.
inedible grain
gleaned from wild seeds of poison ivy fields―
abundant nullity with swords and shields.
indelible stain
marks well the parchment of the careless ink
that leaks where mental compass strains to think.
insatiable gain ...

One, two, three, it's raining(haikuplet)
Oh hey, it's raining
Has it been raining all day?
No, I don't think so...
~
Rain hits the pavement
Can't wait to be within rain
Beauty is right yonder
~
I see before me
Trickling its way on down, yes
Just to let it be...

lightning piercing grey
a single glimmer
barely visible
on the distant horizon
blindingly vibrant
for these forest eyes
lately too accustomed to dark
when days blur
and nights shiver silently by
one after another
that shimmering flash rather beguiles
beauty unexpected
a kiss blown upon the wind
as off in the distance
thunder softly rolls in
breath catching in throat
suddenly filled with a growing feeling
remarkably akin to…hope
could there be a brighter tomorrow
and so begins the wait
in this lackluster landscape

Into a Mist
river dancing raindrops dance
on the roof, another chance
to be entrained, to resonate
with the raindrops sharing fate
interweaving tapestries
of sounds and thoughts as thinking flees
vanishing into a mist -
when by raindrops' rhythms kissed...
reappearing robed in light
without moving on a flight
through the clouds, above, beyond
gravity no more a bond
full moon calling, Mars, the Sun
Birkeland currents surfing fun
all the way and in between
raindrops falling's liquid dream
tap tap tap...

Within The Comfort Of Proverbs May You Find Peace
Hands cannot reach the holy grail of a blessed mind
You will attempt to find the key, however not ordained by God design
On by man’s time
And still not sip the equation of the truth as you come to find

wrath of a lady
she woke me
with rage building in her throat
her deep seated rumble the first sign of trouble
shaking my bed with her anger
and I rose wiping sleep from my eyes
ready to hear her out
well accustomed to her moods
as she gathered momentum
I stood in awe at her fierce expression
but cautious
it is wise to be wary of her temperament
going from moaning
to weeping
to howling fury
stomping the ground with the weight of it
flashing skies of her eyes
lashing & dancing all around
threatening to drown
or burn...

Night rain at your mother's house
You lay beside me
Your steady breath a hiss in my ear
In the guest bedroom
After your father died
Downstairs your mother
With her dogs and her wine
Holds herself together
Dreams of your father
The tears of his suddenness
Breathtaking decisiveness
One second dinner
Next second death
There is nothing to do now
Family is consoled
Friends are informed
The march of time
Steps forward without afterthought
Minus a pair of old shoes
Not yet cool
Your hand caresses my side
