soft reflections on maternal love
“A mother's lap is the abode where you weep, sleep and find peace;
no fear can intrude, all worries are removed, and love is absolute
and supreme.”―Shah Asad Rizvi
she could not bend a corner without me
tiptoeing in the echo of her song;
nor could i from her gentleness cut free,
her apron string my tether all day long.
her eyes of kindness spoke a thousand words
lips could not utter, in a single glance;
her laughter fluted like the broken chords
of harvest harps that...

Mother
I don't want to resent, nor live my life blaming you for any turmoil my character may cause in my now peaceful life. My frustrations, as they should, have come from things I have done, but also from things those who have loved me have done. You have to understand control is all one wishes to claim in this life, even though intemperance is inherent from the moment we open our eyes for the first time and fight the very air filling our lungs with a cry of pain. It is here in this forced existence that one would realize, if they could of course, that control is but an illusion. I have not had it...

I Forgive You - 12/17/2019
I forgive you-
I forgive you for expecting that
You would see
All I am becoming in my life
No matter how many times
I have seemingly failed in your eyes
I have learned and came so far
You, on the other hand
You have taught me all
In which I choose not to be
You have continously shown me hatred and selfish thoughts
Reflecting the past continously
You never have seen and felt the here and now
May I strive better...
I forgive you for expecting that
You would see
All I am becoming in my life
No matter how many times
I have seemingly failed in your eyes
I have learned and came so far
You, on the other hand
You have taught me all
In which I choose not to be
You have continously shown me hatred and selfish thoughts
Reflecting the past continously
You never have seen and felt the here and now
May I strive better...

Worthless Tenants
Chapter 1
Electricity Bills
Mr. Perry brought some important issues to the attention of the worthless woman who shared the house with him. Firstly, he talked about the electricity bills. He said that the utility company had his wife’s phone number and the company had been sending the electricity bills to her phone, but that edition of the electricity bills only showed the total amount that was to be paid and the due date. Mrs. Perry and her husband could not rely on that insufficient information to pay the electricity bills.

Litany of a snail
I was fresh from the shower,
in sweats, a t-shirt, no bra, sodden hair,
getting ready for mass,
when the deputy knocked on the door,
and solemnly brought to his lips a name
with which I’d not let pass my own
in years.
It’s a sin to speak ill of the dead.
I remembered her
bright-red hair...
I remembered when I was nine,
and we lived in an efficiency
with her ‘former’ dealer,
in a city far away from my home.

The Strangers They Become
Children disappear into the grownups
they become, into adult chassis,
behind facial hair, they vanish
into ghost chasers, into bearers of lore
and wisdom and agents of art
we did not see written on the wall.
The formerly frolicsome, children
who ran about in pointless patterns,
they disappear into frowns and causes
The trinkets and trophies sleep in drawers
no longer drawn, fingers now beringed
by graduations or chapel rites.
The clingy and the ones you could leave
alone...
they become, into adult chassis,
behind facial hair, they vanish
into ghost chasers, into bearers of lore
and wisdom and agents of art
we did not see written on the wall.
The formerly frolicsome, children
who ran about in pointless patterns,

father no. 1
first of all
fuck you for fathering me
in the first place
I haven't been the same since
and secondly
I wish you had taken your due
in your satchel
and not in your own hands
to save some for later
and lastly,
I will always wonder
if life did this to you
or vice versa
so i know what to expect
while all this smoke
filters through
my own spread fingers
fuck you for fathering me
in the first place
I haven't been the same since
and secondly
I wish you had taken your due
in your satchel
and not in your own hands
to save some for later
and lastly,
I will always wonder
if life did this to you
or vice versa

while all this smoke
filters through
my own spread fingers

She glows
She glows with this kind of light and radiance
Like wisdom of the ages
Of elder and sages that emanate love and patience
It’s truly a sight to see
But at this milestone
The now and distant past sometimes seem to get crossed
When lucidity flickers off for a moment
As if a faraway memory came back unexpectedly
Our hearts stop for a second
And it comes right back
We bask in this love
In recollections of simpler times
Of harder decades
Of youth
Of war
Of struggles that brings a family closer...
She glows with this kind of light and radiance
Like wisdom of the ages
Of elder and sages that emanate love and patience
It’s truly a sight to see
But at this milestone

The Phantom Zone
What is real and what is not,
And does it even matter?
I think it does...I think it does,
When we remember love
Is all too much unspoken of.
Now, I will speak of it every day
And search for it in every book
And in any other blameless way
Not too disposed to gobbledygook.
Oh...we will know it by its mirth
And by the laughter and the smiles
That prove to us how much you're worth
Through all the ubiquity of trials
So troublesome to the human race.
But...
And does it even matter?
I think it does...I think it does,
When we remember love
Is all too much unspoken of.
Now, I will speak of it every day
And search for it in every book
And in any other blameless way
Not too disposed to gobbledygook.
Oh...we will know it by its mirth
And by the laughter and the smiles
That prove to us how much you're worth
Through all the ubiquity of trials

Growth
Please tell me
so that I might know.
Please explain
so that I might listen.
Please show me
so that I might understand.
Please trust me
so that I might grow.
so that I might know.
Please explain
so that I might listen.
Please show me
so that I might understand.
Please trust me
so that I might grow.
