Poems about Motherhood
#motherhood
Poems about motherhood, here you'll find poetry about being a mother and everything that entails. Poems about a mother's relationship with her children, and poems about how life changes when you become a mother.
.
Because I Love my Daughter
Because I love my daughter ...
I owe her healing.
I owe her my life lessons.
But my story isn't her story. I won't let her see me criticize myself in the mirror. And I won't let her believe anyone else's poor treatment of her is ever her fault. I pray she'll never doubt her self worth in this world, and that she'll shine with compassion for others.
I'll give our relationship all I've got. I want her to tell me when I've done something wrong, when I've hurt her.
I want to be her safe place and her support.
I hope she'll use her voice.
And...
I owe her healing.

Mama Needs A Break.
Pitter patter
That’s the sound of little feet
Running, yet again
To meet me in the bathroom
And disturb my peace
Fuck.
I can’t take a shower
Without having 100 questions thrown
at me rapidly
By the little curious person
Who was put on this earth by me.
Mom this and mom that
All day long
I mean damn, sometimes I just want to be left alone…
And don’t get me wrong
I love my kids
More than life itself
But is wrong to want to have time to myself
BY MYSELF? ...

she
insinuated grace the female form
lovely as she is
a beauty when a child is in the womb
tender gentleness a soul, a life to give
beautiful day her essence came into being
caress the meaning and understand
it is the power of she
of which all life is formed

Curve ball
Life threw a curve ball
My world was turned upside down
But I won't go back
I'm a single mom
With the most beautiful boy
Who owns my whole heart
Meeting someone new
While a wonderful daydream
Is far from easy
But it is better
Than life with someone cruel
Who destroyed my heart
Maybe we still love
The people we were before
We aren't the same now
And so we move on
Hoping to find our true selves
Moving day by day
Praying we chose right
Separating our whole lives ...

Soft and Slow
Even when I’m alone
I’m not alone
If it’s not kids
It’s animals
I’ve politely pushed this black
patchy white kitten away
Ten thousand times
Excuse me she’s
nicely napping in my lab
And that’s not all
I have to pee
I guess she was lonely
And I can’t sit still.

Capable of Being Molded
Getting out of the shower
My mirror
It’s not giving
Not even minutely
A loyal pattern of imitation
Just an idea of something else
In my head
I’ve been curated
Not by god
Oh gosh
I can count the cost
My imaginakle representation.

Her Shoulders
Her shoulders were
cool to the touch, but
she warmed his hands
as they found her waist.
There, that's better, he thought,
approaching her magic spaces
with the guns of war still
ringing in his ears.
She held her breath as
he kissed her neck. His
hands found her breasts
while her hungry baby
cried in the next room.
She knew he was a soldier
whose life was being shaped
by death. What he desired
he will have, but he paid well
and might never return.

Rose-blood
Today you almost died.
The car wrapped around you
Like silver, jagged arms
Wanting what was mine
Since you were an infant.
That's all they told me.
You were lifted from the scene
By the indifferent, whirring hands of a chopper.
I searched frantically for you,
Calling hospital after hospital,
But to no avail.
And in those few hours
I assumed the worst.
But business was happening
Frantically around me.

Row
The word row
I’m not even sure that’s the
correct spelling
It is.
It’s not the way you’d expect to
Pronounce it
I heard this word for the first time in
“A Little Princess” by Lucy
Everyone was awry
Go Lucy!
When they found out Sara was a princess, but Sara had been
A princess this whole time
In the beginning,
She was a princess,
She was a princess when her dad died and left her with nothing,
and she had to be beggar,
And she was a princess in the end
after all she endured

idfc if it doesn't even make sense vol. one
can't even fuckin figure out if
today is still
today
or not
or if it's
friday
or
saturday by technicality
but possibly still technically
friday
for the oooh!..possums
and maybe
this shift
has my circadian rhythm
just
bamboozled
but maybe
i'm just
blame shifting
despite their calls of "sunrise"
during twilight hours
forever finding myself awaiting
this.. j-o-b
to ring-a-schwing-schwing ...

The Pumpkin Boy
The pumpkin boy’s my favourite:
too old to trick-or-treat,
but so handsome in ruffled shirt
and grinning mask.
He’ll soon replace my son.

Crying
My baby's crying’s constant
With heavy screaming too
And soothing her is difficult
Since I'm still missing you
You say that this was for the best
If you could only see
I'm crying with my baby
While you're not here for me
Swinging face down in your arms
I miss that way you'd hold her
I wish that you’d have stayed with me
To watch as she grows older
But here we cry still without you
Both making quite a fuss
Since I can't soothe my baby
As I'm still mourning us
With heavy screaming too
And soothing her is difficult
Since I'm still missing you
You say that this was for the best
If you could only see
I'm crying with my baby
While you're not here for me
Swinging face down in your arms
