The Mersirens
A giant goldfish bowl
Splashed into the ocean
The life inside
Swam around
As mercurial bubbles
Rose to the surface
As the fish mouths
Seemed to speak....
From my observations
They kept repeating
Just one word
Bub bub bub
Unknown to me
Every bub
Had possible multiple meanings
And it became to late
Before i realised
That they weren't fish
But an alien invasion force
From a distant water world
Within seconds
Or was it days?
A large bubble
Not disimilar

Inland swimming pool
Inland swimming pool.
Between two hills, a chasm, in winters rain fills up the gap
a lake is born, in May, June and the middle of July the water
is fine, if a bit greying.
The lake has no outlet and is used by farmers for their crops
if there is scant rain.
In August, the lake is silty, but it is the only swimming pool
we have, we sit by the bank drink beer watch children play
it is our day at the beach.
When the lake is dry, we find skeletons of animals and
that of a missing person who went swimming in the night.

A seraph
I knew as soon as she entered the room
she was unlike anyone I had met before.
She sat down, began some embroidery
a silk dress for a delightful nuptial.
We kissed at the entrance of the door
to hell, the ground was white as snow

The astronaut
They said the moon was every surface full
of light, no deep shadows behind rocks
yet an astronaut insists the moon is jam-packed
of folks living in underground cities having hilarious
time hiding from invaders who explore trying
to find life on the moon, a world parallel to the earth.
Invaders in funny suits, stealing rock to take
back to earth to see if there is anything worthy
to exploit.
The cave dwellers shake their heads the sick rocks
that destroyed the moon landscape, they take back

arrested freedom
Arrested freedom
Seagulls fill the air with joy
anchored sailboats tugs want to be free
sail around the world alone,
as a Japanese fishing vessel did
end up at the coast of Canada.
Alas, caught by the coast guard as it
prepared to sail for Chile and Peru.
Anchored in a lonely bay
waits for her captain to show up.
This slavey of navigation
had been a year of freedom.
Seagulls fly, sleek bodies white as snow.
A storm is brewing
the ocean is theirs alone.

Small fry
Fingerlings are playing among seagrass in shallow water
they stop when the big shadow of an adult passes overhead
sometimes they play is so exciting they forget
and end swallowed whole by a fish that knows no mercy.
Alas, the tiny fry has a short memory and soon leave
the seagrass attracted by shiny pebbles shines like nuggets
of gold on a summer day.
The play stops as it just like old school friends drift apart
to other seas and too smart to anyone bearing false bait.
There are no promises for elderly fish when finally...

waking my slumber
the vibration incantation
that of my lover
and his Harley
revving his throttle
upon my water rooftop door

The remote
It was a terrible hallucination
an old hex came out of her grave and raped me
I was lame paralyzing fear she sat on top of me

A laughing clown filled the heavenly screen, a grin full of malice.
Behind me, bearded men were eating children wine
and blood ran down their chests, had the time of their life.
Democracy is great, chanted freedom to exploit the weak

A message to earthlings
Earthlings, we gave you a planet and you fouled it.
We had high hope for you since you can reason and show empathy
but you were overtaken by the sin of greed and arrogance.
You have exploited the home we gave you
you had no respect for animals, you let them down and eradicated
the Tasmanian tigers to take an example, we find it hard to forgive.
We have released a plague upon you, to teach you a lesson, we wish not
to eliminate mankind as you will do that yourself.
