f**king say goodbye
Why couldn't you give my
maimed heart
a last bit of
romantic dross
to hold on to?
I’m tired of wanting
and hurting
and hating
I don’t want to be in this cycle
this spiral
this train-fucking wreck of a mind
I want you to man the fuck up
and leave me with some dignity
like the good guy you say you are
I want to stand in flowy dress
on a hill and watch you
walk away with my lips still
blistered from our last kiss
I want to step in your arms
one more time...

A SUNSET TO NEVER FORGET
Sunset takes me back to July 4, 2023
A time so painful so unforgetful
When I felt it all weigh on me
Remembering what was once beautiful
The depression that clinged in my heart
That stabbed me like a daybreak
That made me feel to tear apart
Like a vampire getting charred in the sun's wake
Torn in many pieces, what my mind misses
The torment of a heartbreak
The one thing in life no one wishes

Almost Heaven
Suddenly the world again appeared bright
And the clouds rose slowly from the ground
The colors of life were now in sight
And the birds were singing all around
I turned and saw a crystal reflection
As the sun glimmers over the clear blue lake
I finally knew I made my way to heaven
Despite my life lived and all my mistakes
The grass was plush beneath my feet
And the cool breeze echoed harmony
A perfect world I could not believe
Was home for my new eternity
Everything in front of me I've ever dreamed
A beautiful world...

The Voyage
The day we met was the moment the ducks aligned on the water
A setting sun in the background, hues of blue and purple faded now
I didn't know that my heart would fall and drown in a crazy wreckage
The image of tomorrow has a faint shadow of you beside me in my head
I know that you will not be there with me as I move forward in the future
Devastating as that sounds, there is no path unless I love myself before you
Before it was so easy to find my way because I flowed like a boat trapped on currents
I did not fight it nor did I release...

TLDR: I finally learned to dream
Baby, dream of me tonight
so I can stay awake
and watch the world
on your skin
becuase I can't shake
the sadness
let me take one night
to slide
between the folds
of your being as you
dream in places
that used to be mine,
your dark lashes still
on your pale cheeks
and your chest
warm under
my palm,
I want to inhale the way you
smell of man and
that brand of soap
that clings to my
mind like your hand
clung...

Asphalt lamentations
I was on my way
to meet friends for
pretension and bad champagne
but the song you sang,
the one that
made made me all melty
on our first day
as an official couple,
came on the radio
while I flipped channels
and I was back there,
back then,
when you were

when you were
proud to be my man
so I pulled into a
Walgreens parking lot and
ugly cried so hard
so long,
and so dramatically, ...

Respite care in emotional Hospice
I pushed the button
to get another hit from
the morphine drip
while phlegm rattled
in my chest
the hospice staff
had me piled down
with blankets
which made
the ache from
my bloodless veins
a little more focused
And I lay there,
basking in comfort
that smelled of rot
waiting for the pain
to end, day to end,
life to end, same as
every day since
you chewed
my heart out
with rat teeth
and lover’s tongue.
The all-enduring agony
is bearable...
to get another hit from
the morphine drip

in my chest

Faith looks Forward
There once was a woman
With a heart as pure as gold
She had beautiful eyes
A contagious laugh
And her smile was something to behold!
She went through life
Loving and naive
Fell in love with a man with tricks up his sleeve
He was drawn to her light
And to her pure energy
But in the end,
This “love” would be her undoing.
The man was void.
He could never have enough.
So she gave her all to him
In the name of love.
She couldn’t have known,
But she would never measure up, ...

Broken
The night is dark and long,
My body and brain are so wrong,
I'm a broken person,
Of that, I am certain.
I ruined my mom's only chance of fun,
Because my body wanted to run,
I had heart palpitations, I'm broken,
I can't seem to get myself to function,
My brain and my body are in a bad position,
I feel lesser than phlegm,
My health came between them,
Between my mother and a good time,
I kept her away from something sublime,
Between her and the first Christmas party ...

Embers of Solitude
In the stillness of the hills, where solitude resides,
I find myself alone, where darkness gently hides.
The holidays have arrived, a season meant to share,
Yet I'm left with emptiness, a heart burdened with despair.
My oldest daughter, raising a family of her own,
Her joys and laughter now in a world apart, unknown.
The second oldest, distant and detached it seems,
Leaving behind moments cherished, like fragmented dreams.
The boys, with their mother, embracing a new start,
Creating memories anew, a family's beating heart.
