My neck broke from trying
to put my head on your shoulder
as the sun set on the last day
of our new beginning
Fuck’s sake, what is she doing?
Not the shoulder, that takes too long.
I’m already late. God damn it.
I need a diversion, shit…and an excuse.
The sun sweat my resolve from the
bottom of my boobs
and today I want to sit and think
and not drive myself insane
...

Reassuring and safe,
I like how I can come to you -
Knowing you will never judge.
Of course you'll express your view.
But everyone follows their own path,
However stupid, however smart.
Understanding, it's what you do!
I turn to you when I feel stuck,
Cos you always have the answer -
Like someone's beautiful mama would.
You hate that expression,
But I find you endearing.
Showed my own mom your image last night -
Asked her what she thought...
'She's nice, Billy,' she said,
Despite knowing nothing...

The Unexpected Life
The naked moon emits a bold seducing glow.
Bleeding light upon the black glistening sky.
The silent stars were aroused with spectacular shine.
Cradled in craters of my best moments.
Night eloquently falls and peace flourishes.
It no longer matters why.
A wolf's ached howl,
Inviting souls to banish slumber.

Atoms and Eve
i took an old math book from '74
inside cover stamped
by some high school in idaho
back when all counting was done with potatoes
one for dinner and one for town
one for breakfast, one for town
but the plow-man always got
the first bushel
it's in that subtraction
that you always felt
a little hungry
i over-wrote upon the pages
with the fattest marker I could find
my poems weren't ready
for my own title, or my name
so i put that boring book
to a better use
the school boys called me fag ...
inside cover stamped
