the US election
The USA Election
The near future is catching up
the American presidential election
is looming
This time, there is talk of a woman,
who has charmed many with her
furious laughter
The mystery is that she has no plan
on how to rule, other than revert
to socialism and spend more money
And there is a formidable man, a survivor
of two assassination attempts, the sane
hopes will win
He, the grizzled old fighter, has on his
side two knights of the realm, who
will try to change...

October Poems 2024 >> and dream this is a dream
October Poems 2024
A poem for each day of the month in which I was born
DAY 28
and dream this is a dream
i cannot seem to go another mile,
but i will struggle on, till fully spent
of all my sweat and tears and mercantile.
the arrows that i daily circumvent
are undeterred by stealth or camouflage;
yet, if i could just make it to the bend,
i’d get beyond the infernal sabotage
with which by night and day i must contend.
but what if i could reach the river pass,
and drag myself across the bamboo bridge: ...

Please! Don't try to insult my intelligence you fawning serf sycophants, as you evidently won't succeed!
By Stanley Collymore
The Britain monarch, you keep telling
the rest of us citizens, quite livingly
has no political power, which is
in fact a blatant and orchestrated travesty of
the truth. Simply a lie, in actual terminology!
Since the monarch does, in fact, have huge,
political power! Just one, but very simply a
significant example of this is, that actually
any MP who we, as the literally, legitimate
electorate obviously, democratically elect
must specifically and similarly too, rather
compulsorily, swear complete...

to be a somebody
To be a somebody
When we were young, we lived a café life
and often spoke about writing a novel, but
mostly we endlessly spoke about other
writers, those how were heavy drinkers
we tried to emulate.
Naturally, no one understood our pain
of being talented
Alfred, my friend and fellow drinker, went
to Paris to write, he got the clap
came home and wore a French beret and
A Raincoat got a poem published in the local
paper, forever referred to as a Frenchy
His work, as an artist, was done, he rested
on his laurel,...

a child's war
A child's war
suddenly, there was a war
people drew the curtains called " blinds"
the boy had no idea what was going on
only there was a fear in the air
the next thing he knew, he sat in a basement
as fingers of light clawed the night
A long bus ride out of town, his mother
was not with him, he didn't ask why.
A big farmhouse near a German camp
The soldiers loved him and let him sit on
their big horses
Then it was all over, not knowing why

the white man
The white man
In Algarve, I met the world's tallest poet
blessedly free of athletic prowess and
dressed for a warmer clime, perhaps Swiss
or some other country nearby
Alas, he suffered from high education and
tended to overlook people, which, in his
case was understandable, but he had
a great sense of irony
He spoke French to my wife, who came
into my study to tell me she looked like
Sophia Loren, who am I to disagree with
a woman who speaks seven languages
The tall poet and I went to the beach
I noticed...

so easy
Scenes of love
I love you, but you love the mirror
thinks your nose is perfect
green eyes and rosy lips
your fragrance has a narcissistic
allure, as you take the last look
in the hallway mirror before
leaving for the ball
Ah, the way you walk, pavements
adore you, rain shies away to
save your hair from bother
When you cross the road, car horns
blast by themselves, white cars
turn pink
The sun doesn't burn your skin
makes it golden in the afternoon
and glows in the night
Until one day, the mirror...

a ship and Germany
a ship and Germany
Unter den Linden, I have a soft spot for the German language
when a toddler, I had free access to a military camp where
they had enormous horses and let me sit on top of one of them
(looking up horses, I think they were Belgian draft horses)
Since I was 5 years old at the time
I reserve the right to be wrong
My mother said I could speak a little German
I don't think so
but when the Brits and the Americans came
my few words of German were too soon forgotten.
In the late fifties, I was onboard an old ship that had...

Insanity a la carte
Glimmering beneath a sheen,
where shadows dance in whispers, unseen.
Veiled chaos, finely painted dreams,
in the cracks madness gleams.
Fragile echoes in twilight's embrace,
haunting glimpses of a fractured face.
Silent screams, behind polished walls,
in the stillness a storm calls.
Beneath the surface, turmoil brews.
Masked by a gloss of tranquil hues.
In the heart, a restless fire,
burning with unspoken desire.
Mirrored reflections, distorted and clear,
a dance with demons ever near.
Eyes that...

The Wild Courage of Despair
WHEN VULTURES OF HOPE
close in on my field of vision
in a man-made desert
parched by the gods
of money tech and power
inner wisdom beckons
the afore-bidden Fruit
of Knowledge to pick
out forlorn esperance
as an obsolete mirage
to forsake futile
hope and expectation
and dowse a hidden well
WHEN SNAKES OF DESPAIR
slither around my heels
sink me to my knees
tempt me to drink the divine
will to live my life
every drop of clarity
quenches the thirst
of my soul to summon ...

Money is the root cause of all evil when used improperly and immorally but can also be a positive force for what's good!
By Stanley Collymore
Those who are authentically
rich, and obviously so by
whatever means they
acquire their wealth, don't normally as
a rule rather stupidly, or flamboyantly
actually spend their distinctively vast
sums of money usually irresponsibly
but instead sensibly and quite safely
equally and also rather securely put
it usually in offshore bank accounts
and actually well out of harm's way
from all truly legitimate scrutiny of
the lesser mortals really in actually
pecuniary circumstances and truly ...

October Poems 2024 >> though here i die
October Poems 2024
A poem for each day of the month in which I was born
DAY 19
though here i die
i am an iamb
deep down in my heart,
yet you ask why am
i falling apart!
i’ve been the storm man
on rocky paths thrown,
yet i know i can,
where eagles have flown.
bitter the dewdrops
i milk from harsh soil,
yet there are few drops
from which i would coil.
sweeter the moments
hope promises me,
yet all life’s torments
must first bruise the knee.
