Sour fumes floating
from the recipe
in the sink, abduct my
nose holes and order my
wrists to my throat. ~ blub-blurp
I squeal thru the tear-ducts
milking the queasy spirit
of my knuckles as they

she greets me
at the door
excited to see me
bouncing

joy
with exclamations
endearing
cries and mewls
she gazes
eyes filled
with love
she teases

softly rubbing my leg
i sit in the
easy chair

Catlike Reflexes
a half hour ago i heard a cat-like wail
it echoed through the house 3 times
before going silent
at the first wail, i thought, a cat outside?
however, on the second and third
it was far too clear
too unmuffled
to come from the outside
it seemed to possess a strong doppler effect
as the wail would come stronger and then leave
as if it were flying through the house
i checked the basement
empty
there were thuds and bumps from outside
i couldn't see anything from my window
there's no way for anything to get in and...

CUDDLING WITH HARLEY
From a young age it has been clear
You need the company of peers
To make you feel completely whole
Now that has been removed from school
From in the class to on the walk
Back to the car where we would talk
With your best friend and his parents
Of vacations, running errands
And all those other normal things
That each new blessèd day would bring—
So though he can be a curmudgeon
And it’s easy to be judging
You for sometimes harsh approaches
Feel the pull to be life coaches
Explain that he’s not a teddy

Kit Kat
I have a cat
That drives me crazy
And never lets me sleep
She runs around
Chasing ghosts
And chews on cardboard boxes
Her claws are pointy
Her teeth are sharp
I’ve definitely been impaled
But she is cute
When she cuddles
And curls up on my pillow
That doesn’t excuse
Her shitty behavior
That causes me to yell
I must admit
She’s damn adorable
And that gets her out of trouble
But I can’t be angry
At the cutest cat
That is so fucking lovable

Kitties are the cutest scourge
To ever hit the earth
So scorned that stopping a cat
From becoming a parent
= getting it “fixed”
A group of them
Is called a litter
Which also means trash
Or place that cats poop
Few domesticated critters
Are easier to lose

And laundry loads
Kitties have it hard

THE NINTH LIFE
The creature ran out into the road, a sprinting shadow of charcoal leaps into the darkness. I saw a mere glimpse of three leaps before it was seen by the edge of the headlight beams.
"NO! NO!! NOooo!!!!!! " I yelled out from the passenger seat before this creature vanished from sight.
THUD!!!!!!!!
"Just keep driving Dianne"
"What?"
"YOU just hit a cat, just go, don't look back."
"That was a cat?"
"I saw him running out in the road at the last minute, you didn't, Its not your fault, just go on....

He's on lawn and road patrol
He's at his station
at the living room window
He's very good at what he does
He takes his job seriosly
and he performs his duties proudly
and quite diligently
ever ready to protect
his master and his forever home
Fortunately, I 've been warned
about the men in big trucks
forever stealing our trash
and unwanted leftovers
sitting curb side
And the menacing looking...
